JACK AND ROSE: TOGETHER FOREVER
Chapter Thirty-One

Rose stretched and opened her eyes. Everything from last night came fluttering back to her. She still couldn't believe the Fosters were having a baby. She was so happy for them. Suddenly Rose realized something, 'How did I get up here?' The last thing she remembered was listing to everyone talk about baby clothes, and she was too tired to care about anything. After that, everything stopped. She shrugged, 'Oh well, I'll ask Jack later.' Rose rolled over and looked at the small clock on the nightstand. It was a quarter to nine. She moaned and rolled back to face Jack. His hair was hanging in his face and she couldn't tell if he was asleep or not. Timidly she pushed his hair back from his face. His eyes were closed and he was breathing softly. She smiled, rolled over again, and threw the covers off her side of the bed. Rose grabbed her bathrobe from the floor beside the bed and shrugged into it. Rubbing her eyes, she got out of bed and stumbled to the door. Walking down stairs, she thought about the Fosters again.

"I wonder if the Fosters are gone yet," She wondered out load. Walking into the kitchen she found a note stuck to the coffeepot.

Yawing she picked it up and read it, "Rose and Jack--We left at about eight-thirty. Might be back for lunch, we don't know. See you later, Bryan and Dianna." She smiled and took a cup of the ready made, still hot coffee. Rose grabbed the paper off counter and started up the stairs. She gently pushed open the door to her bedroom and stepped in side, closing the door quietly behind her. Jack was still asleep, so she grabbed a pillow off the bed and stepped out onto the balcony. Setting the pillow on the bench that was sitting out there, she breathed in the salty air. She loved it outside in the morning. The seagulls were calling to each other, and Rose could here the waves rolling in and out. Sighing continently, she sat down on the bench with her coffee and paper. She opened the paper and started to read, but her mind would not stick to the news. It just keep returning and returning to the Fosters and their baby. Now that they were having a baby, it made her want a baby of her own. Rose smiled and walked over to the edge of the balcony and looked out toward the ocean. She closed her eyes, her mind filled with thoughts of babies. 'But would Jack want a baby now?' She silently thought her herself. She rested her hand on the top of her clenched fist, staring out at the ocean once more. Suddenly a breeze blew by; Rose clenched her bathrobe closer to her and went to got sit back down. 'Could we handle a baby? Are we up for the responsibility?' She shook her head, trying to get her thoughts straight. 'I don't know,' She sat there a couple minutes more, pondering her thoughts. 'Maybe I should talk to Jack about this,' She told herself and then nodded. 'Yeah, I wonder if he is awake yet?' She got up and wondered back into the bedroom. Unfortunately, Jack was still fast asleep.

"Aw, he looks so peaceful and innocent. I hate to wake him up,' She thought smiling. Rose thought about it for a minute and then decided to take a bath first. She walked into the bathroom and started running the hot water. Rose was just about to get in, when she noticed her thing of bubble bath. She walked over and got the container, pouring all of the rest of the contents out into the steamy water. Bubbles at once started forming and soon, she couldn't see the water at all and there was a wall of bubbles about a half of foot deep. Rose pinned her up with clips and then stepped into the hot water. Some bubbles splashed over the side as she got in and landed on a big heap on the floor. Rose giggled, 'Oops, wasn't me.' She sunk down deeper into the water until it was up to her chin. Rose closed her eyes and moaned continently. 'This is almost the life. If only Jack were here.' She giggled at the thought.

Softly she started singing "Come Josephine in My Flying Machine."

"Where dear?" She sang softly to herself.

"To the stars dear," came a voice. Rose turned her head and saw Jack standing in the doorway. She laughed at Jack's statement.

"What? That's not the lyrics! And how long have you been standing there?" She questioned as he came over and sat on the edge of the big tub.

"Not long, but long enough to hear your lovely singing voice. And I like my version better." He teased.

"Mmm. Me too." Rose replied pulling Jack down to kiss him.

"Mmm, Rose, you look like you're in heaven here. Mind if I join you?" Jack asked, looking eager.

"Well, good morning to you too. Actually Jack, I was hoping you would," She said smirking.

"Well, well, well. Rose you and you dirty little mind." He said shaking his head. Rose put her soapy hand up to her chest.

"I have a dirty little mind? Oh you're going to pay," She said. With that she put her arms around Jack's neck and pulled him in the tub with his clothes still on. She started laughing hysterically. Jack sat up and looked open mouthed from side to side, halfway laughing.

"Oops. Sorry, I don't really mean to, seriously." Rose said putting on her innocent face. Jack smiled and got an evil look in his eye. In one motion he splashed her quickly with the soapy water.

"Jack!" Rose exclaimed whipping soap from her wide eyes.

"Oops. Sorry, I really didn't mean to, seriously." Jack said mocking Rose. With that Rose pulled her hand back and splashed Jack back. Soon they had a big splash fight going on. When the fight finally died down, Rose sat laughing hysterically again in Jack's arms.

"What a way to start the morning," Jack exclaimed.

Rose smiled and giggled, "Wasn't me," She started and Jack started laughing.

"Do you always act this innocent in the morning?"

"Only about certain things, Jack." She said smiling brightly.

Jack laughed again and then asked, "Are the Fosters still here?"

Rose shook her head, "No, they left about eight-thirty. I was down stairs earlier and I found a note from them."

Rose and Jack sat in content silence for a few minutes until Rose started, "Jack, um, you know how Dianna’s pregnant?"

Jack opened his eyes and looked down at her, "Yeah."

"Well, Jack, I was wondering, well, would you mind if I got pregnant now?"

"Rose, are you…"

"No, no, no. I, well, they just got me thinking. And well, I don't want to right now. But maybe in a few months or a year or so we could try. I think we are ready," Jack looked at her for a moment.

"Rose, that would be perfect. I like the idea." Jack said happily putting his forehead to hers.

"And you know what?" He asked.

"What?" Rose asked quietly.

"I was thinking, we should start practicing tonight. Just so we can get it right when we are ready." Rose grinned happily and gave Jack an Eskimo kiss.

"Mmm, I love that idea Jack."

Later that Night

Darkness had fallen over Santa Monica and Rose and Jack had decided to bring a blanket outside and sit and look at the stars. They had sat down close to the Ocean, but still on the grass, in the backyard. They were now huddled together under the blanket and Jack was showing Rose some of the constellations.

"See Rose, that's the Big Dipper, and the Little Dipper." He said pointing up. Rose looked up and stared at the sky.

"And that's the North Star. See it?"

Rose nodded, "Yeah, it's so beautiful," she whispered.

"Yes, I never get tired of looking up there." Jack said quietly. Rose smiled, leaned against Jack, and took his left hand in her own. Jack immediately put his right arm around her shoulders.

"Do you know anymore Jack?" Rose asked quietly still looking up.

"Um, yeah, I do. See that's Orion and ah that's Draco, and um, Cepheus, oh wow, I really can't name anymore. I know where some are though."

Rose smiled and nodded, "I didn't know anything about any of this stuff until we met, Jack. This is so wonderful and new to me still." Jack looked down and kissed her.

"Mmm, did the Fosters say when they were going to back?" He asked.

"No," Rose whispered reaching up to kiss him again. Suddenly they heard a commotion coming from up above them on the deck. Rose and Jack turned their heads back and upward, looking as to where the sound was coming from. The Fosters were up on the deck, unaware of their audience, and were right now engaged in a very passionate kiss. Rose looked at Jack with a dangerous look in her eye.

She smirked, stood up, and shouted up to them, "Well, well, well. Bryan, Dianna, I expected better from you both! Now who is acting all lovey-dovey? You are both little hypocrites!" Dianna and Bryan broke apart and looked down at Rose standing there with a smug look on her face. Near by Jack was doubled over in laughter.

"Rose, Jack, we though you were in bed!" Shouted a surprised Dianna.

"Nope, we're not. Now hold on we're coming up there to teach you a lesson." Rose said and started dragging Jack through the house and on onto the deck.

"Now," Rose said sitting Dianna and Bryan down on the bench and standing in front of the them with Jack standing near by trying to control his laughter.

"Now, do you want to explain why you felt the need to engaged in that behavior on our deck? And why were you gone so long missies?"

"We…"

"App, I am not done," Rose said holding up her finger.

"And were you successful in the house hunting?" Rose asked.

"Well, we thought you were in bed. That takes care of the first question." Bryan said.

"Second, we went out to dinner which is why were late. And we had lunch on the beach." Dianna told Rose.

"And last, yes we found a house we like a lot, right down the street, and are going back tomorrow to look through it once more. Now, can we go inside I am getting cold?" Dianna finished. Rose cast a sideways glance at Jack.

"Should we let them inside?"

"Yeah, we better," Jack said still trying not to laugh.

"Alright, you can go in. But, bedtime is ten. No excuses," Rose said shaking her finger at them. Dianna and Bryan gave them a weird look and then started laughing. Jack joined in and Rose finally shook her head and began laughing too. Everyone filed inside and collapsed in a heap on the couch.

"So, you found a house down the street?" Rose asked after everyone had settled down.

"Yeah, do you know the Seavers?" Jack and Rose nodded.

"Anyway, we are going back tomorrow and are probably going to make a bid." Dianna said.

"Oh, that is wonderful!" Rose exclaimed.

"Now our children can grow up together," Jack said, eagerly excited.

"Yes I know. This is going to be wonderful," Dianna said dreamily.

"When would you be moving down again?" Rose asked.

"Oh, probably late July or early August. We want to be all the way settled in before January." Rose and Jack nodded and smiled.

"Well, tomorrow I was thinking we could invite the Langstons over for dinner so you all could met. You have to get to know them if you are going to be living down here." Rose said.

"Oh, yes, that would be wonderful!" Dianna exclaimed.

"We have been wanting to meet them," Bryan added.

"Di, you are really going to love Jennifer. She is so nice and funny and creative." Rose said.

Dianna smiled, "Well, from what you have told us. She sounds so fun."

"Ah, I ah hate break this up. But all of us have a big day tomorrow and it's ten already." Jack said.

Dianna and Bryan nodded, "Yes, we must get some sleep if we are going to do dinner and house bidding tomorrow. And of course we have obey Rose's rule that bed time is ten." Bryan said teasingly, stretching a bit. Rose smiled at them. Everyone agreed, laughed, and said goodnight to one and other. Rose tiredly made her way up the stairs with Jack behind her. When they got to their room, Rose flopped down on the bed.

"Mmm, what a day," She moaned.

Jack laid down next to her, "Mmm, I know. But Rose, honey, it's not over yet." Rose looked over at him and lifted her eyebrows.

"Hmmm."

"Well, we have to practice something dear," Rose giggled and smiled at him.

"Hmm, Mr. Dawson, could we be thinking impure thoughts?" Rose teased.

"Well, even if I am, it wasn't me who put them there?" Rose laughed and kissed Jack.

"Wasn't me," Rose mumbled.

Jack threw his head back and laughed, "Rose, Rose, Rose. What am I going to do with you?"

Rose sighed and looked at him, "Jack, quite talking," Jack smiled and kissed her, turning out the light at the same time.
