JACK AND ROSE: TOGETHER FOREVER
Chapter Thirty-Eight

Rose stretched under the covers. She opened her eyes and smiled. As she glanced at the clock she saw that it was about nine. Amazingly enough, she was not tired considering how late she and Jack were up last night. She smirked as she though about last night. She and Jack hadn't made love for a few weeks until last night and to Rose it was magical. She assumed Jack felt the same way. She rolled over and looked over at Jack. Ironically, he was just waking up. "Good morning," Rose whispered.

Jack smiled, "Morning Rosebud."

Rose smiled and snuggled into his open arms. "So what have you got planned for us today," Rose asked he sat up against the backboard.

"Well, I thought we would go explore this ship. Then after dinner, I heard there is going to be a certain Steerage party I thought we would pay a visit to."

Rose's whole face lit up. "Oh Jack! Really?" she asked smiling.

"Yep, I overheard some Third Class passengers talking about it while I was looking around toward the back of the ship."

Rose grinned and pulled Jack down so she could lie on bare chest. "Sounds like fun," Rose said. "Jack, last night was…" Rose started.

"Wonderful," Jack finished for her. "I know Rosebud."

Rose kissed his chest and snuggled closer to him. Jack started running his fingers through her hair and rubbing her back. Rose moaned and entwined their hands and legs. Jack brought their joined hands up to his mouth and kissed Rose's hand. Rose, in turn, gave him a loving smile. Jack smiled back and looked at their hands. He could barely tell whose hand was whose. Their wedding bands glistened in the sunlight.

"What are you looking at?" Rose asked.

"Our rings, and thinking about what they mean."

"Oh Jack," Rose said. "I wish we could stay like this forever."

Jack ran his fingers though Rose's hair. "Me too, Rose."

They continued to lay wrapped up in each other's arms when suddenly there was a knock at the bedroom door.

"Who is it?" Jack called.

"Its me sir, Brett." Brett's voice can through the door. Rose burst out laughing. "Might I come in?" Brett asked.

"Ah," Jack said trying not to laugh. Rose on the other hand was hysterical. "I don't think that would be a good idea Brett."

"All right sir. I just wanted to make sure you were okay. You didn't show up for breakfast so I thought you might not be well. Or something had happened."

"We're fine Brett." Rose called.

"Okay, call me if you need anything." Brett said.

Jack and Rose waited before they heard Brett leave before they burst out laughing again.

"We probably should get up," Rose said. "We don't want any more callers."

Jack laughed, "No, I don't think they would find our outfits acceptable."

"Or appropriate," Rose added. They both started laughing again.

"How about we get up, see if they'll let us grab some breakfast, then explore the ship some more." Jack suggested.

"Sounds good to me," Rose said dragging herself out of bed. Jack followed her and they went to go get ready.

A half our later, Rose and Jack stood out on the boat deck.

"Where should we start?" Jack asked.

Rose looked around, and something caught her eye. "Let's go to the back of the ship Jack," she suggested.

Jack grinned and they started walking toward the back of the Harman. When Rose got there she ran to the rail and looked over the side. The water churned and rolled around. Jack came up behind her and he too looked over.

"God," Rose whispered. "I can't believe how stupid I was."

"You weren't and aren't stupid Rose," Jack said putting his arms around her.

"Yes I was, I was going to end my life over some stupid engagement."

Jack smiled, "Yeah, but Rose, if you hadn't have ran to the back of that ship, who knows if we would have meet. Besides, you weren't gonna jump anyways."

Rose nodded, "I know. I probably wouldn't have. I think I was just going crazy right then and figured there was no way out. And I think I climbed over the rail more to scare myself."

Jack too nodded, "Like I said, 'you wouldn't a jumped.'"

Rose shook her head. "No, I wouldn't have. I didn't have the strength to. But I am glad I tried," she said turning around in Jack's arms. Both of them smiled at each other.

"Why don't we go look somewhere else," Jack said. "I want to get away from here. Images of Titanic keep popping into my mind."

"All right Jack," Rose said. They started forward on toward the boat deck. Rose was busy thinking when Jack interrupted her thoughts.

"Rose, I have something for you."

Rose looked at him. "What? You didn't have to get me anything."

"Well," Jack said reaching into his light coat pocket. "It's for the both of us really." He pulled out a simple yet nice hand held camera.

Rose gasped, "When did you get this?"

"I bought it in New York. I figured we would want to take lots of pictures."

"Oh Jack, I love it!" Rose said taking the camera and looking it over. "How does it work? Can I get a picture of you?"

They sat down on one of the deck chars and Jack showed Rose how to work the simple camera. Rose grinned and stood up. She slipped the band of the camera over her head so it would hang around her neck.

"Now," Rose directed. "Jack go stand by that rail."

Jack put his sketchbook down and walked over to the rail. He smiled at the camera and Rose pushed the button.

"Oh, that was a good one Jack. Now do something funny," Rose said smiling.

Jack looked at her and then though for a moment. Then he smiled and stood closer to the rail. He put his hands on the rail and brought his head back. Rose suddenly realized what was going on. Jack was pretending to spit over the side. Rose moved to get a better shot and clicked the button before starting to laugh.

"That's gonna be good," she said.

Jack nodded, "Now, let me get one of you." He took the camera away from Rose and told her to stand by the rail. Rose did and put the back of her hand to her forehead. Jack grinned and took the picture. He got a few more of Rose before the Roberts showed up.

"Hello again," Brendan said coming over.

"Hay," Jack said.

"Where were you this morning? We looked for you at breakfast but we didn't see you." Marianne asked as they all stood next to the rail.

Rose caught Jack's eye and smiled.

"We, ah, overslept." Jack said.

'Boy am I glad Dianna isn't here,' Rose thought.

"Ah, yes the sea air can do that to you." Brendan said. Rose and Jack just nodded.

They all stood talking for a few minutes before Rose asked, "Brendan, Marianne, would you mind getting some pictures of us?"

Brendan and Marianne looked at each other.

"Of course! We'd be happy to," Marianne said taking the camera from Jack. Jack showed her how to work the camera and then stood by Rose.

"Okay, smile," Marianne directed. Rose and Jack put their arms around each other and smiled at the camera. Marianne took a few like this before telling Jack and Rose to do something funny. Jack grinned and looked at Rose with a dangerous look.

"Jack, what?" was all Rose could say before Jack had picked her up. He pretended to toss her overboard and Rose laughed saying, 'Jack no, no Jack.'

Brendan stood near by laughing while Marianne tried to keep the camera still. Next, Rose stood and blew a kiss to the camera while Jack tried to playfully pull her away. Then, Rose and Jack both made funny faces at the camera. Suddenly, Rose got an idea. She remembered Bryan and Jack's shoot out a few years ago and told Jack and Brendan to do the same thing. They posed and Rose got the picture. Everyone around laughed at Jack and Brendan.

"Well," Brendan said after the commotion had calmed down. "We'd better get going. We have a lunch date with another couple at eleven thirty and its already eleven fifteen."

Rose smiled, "Alright then. I guess we'll see you at dinner then."

Marianne and Brendan smiled and said their good-byes.

Rose and Jack smiled at each other after they had left.

"They are such nice people." Rose remarked.

"Yeah, they really are." Jack said as he smiled.

"We should try to get to know them more before we get to Paris. Who knows if we'll ever see them again."

Jack nodded, "Sounds good to me." Suddenly a growling sound came out of Jack's stomach.

Rose laughed, "Hmmm, a little hungry Jackie?"

Jack gave her a wired look, "Jackie?"

Rose smiled, "Yep, it suits you."

Jack laughed, "I can see it now: Rosie and Jackie Dawson." Rose stuck her tongue out at Jack. Jack grinned, "I don't like the looks of that Rosie."

Rose gasped and looked at Jack. Jack smiled and started running. But Rose caught up with him and grabbed him by the sleeve of his shirt. She spun him around and grabbed his arms.

"You're not going anywhere Jackie."

"Know what, you're right." Jack said. He leaned down and kissed Rose. Rose forgot about being shocked at Jack and kissed him back. Jack and Rose both knew that people around where probably shocked at them, but they didn't care. All they cared about was being with each other.
