JACK AND ROSE AFTER TITANIC
Chapter Five
Two Weeks Later
Jack was still in a coma. He was showing no
signs of waking up. Rose walked in his room. Walking over to his bedside, she
took his hand and placed it on her stomach, hoping the feeling of the babies
kicking would help him come out of the coma. "Jack, you have to live. I
want you to fight this and win," she said, holding his hand. Jack opened
his eyes for a minute before closing them again. Although he had only opened
his eyes for a moment, Rose knew this was a good sign. He was going to pull
through.
A doctor walked in at that moment to examine
Jack. "Mrs. Dawson," the doctor said. "It does not look
good."
"What do you mean? He opened his eyes
less than five minutes ago. It was for only a minute, but that is a sign that
he will pull through."
The doctor shook his head. "It will take
a miracle," the doctor said, walking out.
"What kind of miracle?" Jack asked.
"Jack," Rose screamed, rushing to
him. "You pulled through."
"Yes, Rose. I knew I could not leave
you, so I decided to fight."
"Did you hear me talking to you?"
"Yes. That is why I decided to fight. I
want to be here when our babies are born," Jack said, patting Rose’s
stomach.
An excited Rose ran after the doctor.
"Come quick. It is Jack." The doctor rushed to Jack's room. fearing
the worst. He could not believe his eyes. Jack was not only awake, but sitting
up in bed as well.
Two Months Later
Jack was home, having made a fully recovery.
"Here is a stack of pancakes for you," Rose said, placing the plate
in front of him.
"These are the best I ever tasted,"
Jack said, taking a bite. "Thank you, Rose."
"Don't thank me. Thank my mother. She
got the recipe from a brand new women's magazine."
"Thank you, Ruth."
"You are welcome," Ruth said,
coming out of the kitchen. "I cleaned up the kitchen. I will leave you two
alone for a while."
As soon as Ruth left, Jack turned to Rose.
"Want to go upstairs?"
"Gladly."
