I can’t believe it’s over
I watched the whole thing fall
And I never saw the writing that was on the wall
If I only knew
The days were slipping past
That the good things never last
That you were cryin'.
Summer turned to winter
And the snow, it turned to rain
Then the rain turned into tears upon your face
I hardly recognize the girl you are today
And God I hope it's not too late
It's not too late.
‘Cause you are not alone
I’m always there with you
And we’ll get lost together
‘Til the light comes pouring through
When you feel like you’re done
And the darkness has won
Babe you’re not lost.
When your world’s crashing
down
And you can’t bear the thought
I said babe you’re not lost.
Life can show no mercy
It can tear your soul apart
It can make you feel like you’ve gone crazy
But you’re not
Though things have seemed to change
There’s one thing that’s still the same
In my heart you have remained
And we can fly, fly, fly away.
‘Cause you are not alone
I am there with you
And we’ll get lost together
‘Til the light comes pouring through
When you feel like you’re done
And the darkness has won
Babe you’re not lost.
When your world’s crashing
down
And you can't bear the thought
I said baby you’re not lost.
Mmm yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
I said baby you’re not lost
I said baby you’re not lost
Oh yeah, yeah
I said baby you’re not lost.
--Lost, Michael Buble
Soft moonlight fell on her face
as Rose Dawson lay on her tear-stained pillow. She couldn’t believe everything
that had transpired in the last few days. She had met the love of her life,
defied her mother and Cal, survived a sinking ship, and lost the love of her
life. A small hotel in New York had shown her mercy when they found that she
was a Titanic survivor. The hotel manager had given her the room for free even
though Rose had some money in her jacket pocket.
"Rose," a faint voice
said.
Rose wiped her eyes and sat up.
Her dress from that night still clung to her figure. It had water stains
everywhere, but it didn’t matter.
"Rose."
"Who’s there?" she
softly asked.
Out of the corner of her eye,
Rose saw a ray of light. A figure appeared at the end of it. Rose had to blink,
for she thought she was seeing things.
"Jack?"
Jack smiled at her. "Yes,
Rose, it’s me."
"How?"
He walked over to the bed and sat
beside her. "That’s not important."
He cupped her cheek and Rose
swore she could feel it. A tear escaped down her cheek.
"I feel so lost, like my
whole world has been turned upside down, Jack."
"I know, but Rose, you are
not lost. You are free from your mother and Cal. You can rebuild your
life."
Rose looked into his blue eyes.
"But I don’t have you or anyone."
He leaned over and captured her
lips. "You are not alone. I’ll always be with you."
"I love you, Jack."
"I love you, too,
Rose."
Rose leaned her head on his
shoulder as his arm wrapped around her waist. He kissed her forehead.
"You will have an amazing life
full of adventure and love."
He turned her face so she was
looking in his eyes. "If you ever feel lost, just think of me and know
that you’ll always be in my heart and one day we can be together again. I’ll be
waiting by the clock."
Rose smiled for the first time in
days. "And you’ll always be in my heart."
Rose awoke and looked around. It
was still dark, except for the small sliver of light shining through the
window. She felt a newfound strength as she thought of the conversation she had
with Jack.
"Thank you, Jack. I love
you," she said to the empty room. She knew that he could hear her.
The End.
