LOVE IS MORE THAN A FEELING
Chapter Fourteen

It was now Christmas morning, 1912. Jack and Rose were still asleep.

Jack woke up first and looked over at his wife. She looked so peaceful sleeping, but he couldn't help himself.

"Rose! Wake up!"

"Hmm?" Rose mumbled.

"Rose! It's Christmas morning!"

Rose finally opened her eyes and saw her beautiful husband smiling at her.

"Jack...please. Just another few minutes!" Rose whined.

"Rose...it's Christmas! Santa Claus came!" Jack said like a little kid.

"Oh, Jack, I..."

Before Rose could finish, Jack put his finger over her mouth. "No excuses, Rose," he said as he gave Rose a kiss.

They walked hand-in-hand to the parlor. It was around nine o'clock, and they and Monica and Fred had all bought gifts for each other.

"Merry Christmas," Fred said as he saw them come down the stairs.

"Merry Christmas," Rose replied.

"Rose," Monica said as she came up to her friend, "we've got presents to open."

They all sat down around Fred and Monica's tree.

Everyone gathered all their presents. Everyone had three to open.

"Who goes first?" Monica asked.

"Um…let's all go at the same time," Fred said.

They all opened one of their gifts.

"Oh, my goodness! Monica, it's beautiful!" Rose said as she looked at the butterfly earrings she had gotten Rose.

They opened the rest of their presents. All that was left was for Jack to open Rose's.

Jack opened it up, and in the big box was a little piece of paper. He looked at it, confused, then read it. It said:

Jack, you're going to be a daddy.

"Rose..."

Rose smiled at him.

"What does it say, Jack?" Fred asked.

"I'm gonna be a daddy?" Jack asked.

Rose shook her head.

"Wahoo!" Jack yelled as he took Rose into his arms and kissed her all over.

"Rose, you're in the family way?" Monica asked. "Oh, my goodness!"

They were all very excited about it. Rose had found out about it a few days ago at the doctor’s office.

"Thank you, Rose, for the best Christmas present a guy could ever ask for!"

"I love you, Jack."

"I love you, too."
