LOVERS LOST AND CHILDREN FOUND
Chapter Six
The next morning, Rose awoke to
the sun shining on her face. Rose opened her eyes, turned her head to look
beside her, and saw a sleeping Jack, his strong arms still around her. She
jumped when she felt a kiss on her neck.
"Good morning, sleeping
beauty!" Jack said, glad that last night had not been a dream.
"Good morning, Jack--"
"Daddy! Mommy!" Summer
called.
"Aw…she called me
mommy!" Rose was smitten with the idea.
"I told her to. Rose, she
loves you. I can tell." Jack was smiling.
"Daddy!"
"Jack, I think we should get
dressed and let the little people in!" They laughed.
Rose put on her robe and Jack put
on his clothes.
They walked into the kitchen,
seeing Eva getting some food.
"Oh, hello, you two!"
Eva said happily.
"Hello, Eva. What are you
going to make?" Rose asked. She didn’t think Eva knew how to cook
anything.
"I am going to make
pancakes." Eva made a face like she should have known.
"All right." Rose
smiled at Eva. She let go of Jack’s hand and sat down next to Summer on the
couch in the next room.
Jack walked towards Eva.
"Where did you learn to cook?" he asked, sitting on a stool that was
in the kitchen.
"I look at people, and once I
was sketching at a restaurant and I was watching the chef make pancakes as I
sketched him."
"Amazing. You are smart, I
see. You must get that from your mom," Jack replied. Eva laughed as Rose
walked in.
"What are you laughing
at?" Rose asked, smiling and walking over to sit in Jack’s lap.
"Nothing." Eva looked
at Jack, winking.
"So, Jack, after breakfast,
what shall we do?" Rose did not expect what Jack said.
"Summer and I are going to
move in." Jack smiled, noticing Rose and Eva’s shock.
"I can’t wait!" Rose
was jumping up and down, clapping like a little child getting a lollipop. Jack
couldn’t help but laugh. Summer ran in, noticing the excitement.
"What’s going on without
me?" Summer gave everyone puppy eyes.
"Summer, we are moving in
here later today. How does that sound?" Jack asked Summer.
Summer thought about it, then
nodded her head yes. "I can’t wait, Daddy! It’ll be fun!" Summer
exclaimed.
"Hey, everyone, don’t forget
that tomorrow’s my birthday and birthday party," Eva said.
"Believe me, sweetheart, I
know," Rose said, and walked over to her daughter and kissed her on the
head.
