LOVERS LOST AND CHILDREN FOUND
Chapter Eight
Jack ran up to Rose.
"Rose…Rose…you can’t die. Not now. You need to live. Eva!" Jack
called, holding onto a weak Rose’s hands. Eva ran out and was shocked at what
she was seeing. "Get into the car!" Jack said, so sternly that Eva
was shocked. The light and happy Jack was gone.
"All right." She ran
outside.
"Jack--" Nicole said
sweetly.
"Don’t talk to me!"
Jack snapped, putting Rose in the car.
"What, because I punched
your little prostitute here?" Nicole asked, tapping her foot.
"No…she is my fiancée, and
for your information, we met a long time ago, and she is the mother of one of
my children, who is now fourteen years old!"
"Oh, is she now?"
Nicole asked.
"Yes. Now, I have to
go!" Jack said coldly, and everyone was off to the hospital.
At the Hospital
"Can I just see her
now?" Jack asked the nurse for what seemed like the millionth time.
"If it will make you calm
down. She’s down the hall. Room 102," the nurse replied.
Jack walked into the room, seeing
Rose staring at the ceiling.
"Rose, how are you
feeling?" Jack asked, holding her hand.
"I’m worried I did something
to the baby!" Rose’s eyes widened, and she bit her lip at what she had
just said.
"Y-you…are pregnant?"
Jack asked, eyes wide. Rose nodded. Jack let go of her hand and cheered.
"Yes! I am gonna be with you for our baby. We’ll actually get to raise
this child together! I cannot wait, Rose!" Rose smiled weakly. "Rose,
honey, what’s wrong?"
"Jack, I’m afraid that,
because of the fall, our child might have some mental or physical problems,"
Rose said, tears silently falling down her red cheeks.
"Honey, I am positive the
child will be all right," Jack reassured her.
Just then, Dr. Metcalfe, who had
seen Rose hours earlier, walked in.
"Mrs. Dawson, you and your
child are all right. Your right cheek might be sore, but that’s all," Dr.
Metcalfe said. "You may go home now. With--"
"Mr. Jack Dawson," Jack
said, his hand out.
Dr. Metcalfe shook his hand.
"Are you and Mrs. Dawson related?"
"Not by blood or
marriage…it’s a long story," Rose said, and he nodded and walked away,
waving.
"Well, Rose, let’s go
home."
"All right, Jack. Can we
tell the children tonight about the baby?" Rose asked.
"Sure. Tomorrow, I will take
care of Nicole."
"Oh, Jack, I know she hurt
me, but don’t hurt her." Rose was shocked. She held Jack’s hand in the
hospital hallway.
"No, no, I am way too much
of a gentleman to hurt a cruel, heartless lady. Hey, I didn’t even hit your
mother." Jack and Rose laughed. "What I meant was see what she
wanted, then tell her to stay away." Jack smiled.
"All right," Rose
replied as they reached the children and went home.
