LOVERS LOST AND CHILDREN FOUND
Chapter Nine

Jack and Rose sat at the kitchen table, along with Eva and Summer.

"All right, children. Jack and I have an announcement…" Rose started, but was cut off by Jack, who was holding her hand.

"We are gonna have a baby!"

Eva and Summer looked in a daze. Finally, Eva spoke up "You know what? I am happy! Hopefully I will get a little brother!" Eva said, getting up to hug her mother and father.

"I am happy, too!" Summer squealed, getting up also to hug her parents.

That Night

Rose was dreaming…the water was so still, yet so cold.

"Jack! Jack!" screamed Rose. A man pushed her down. "Jack!" She gasped for air. This time, no one saved her. "Jack! Where are you, Jack?"

Jack woke up, hearing his name cried out like bloody murder. He turned over to see Rose shaking and gasping in her sleep.

"Rose…Rose, wake up! It’s only a dream!" Jack said, shaking Rose’s arm. Rose finally awoke, crying. "Rose, are you okay?" Jack asked, embracing her.

"No, Jack. It was horrible! Oh, it was horrible..." Rose cried into Jack’s chest.

"What was it? You can tell me," Jack said.

"Remember when the ship first went down, and that man was pushing me under the water? You punched him?"

"Yeah…" Jack said, a little confused.

"Well, you never came back, and I was all alone! You must think I am some crazy person!" Rose cried even harder.

Jack looked at her, and said, "No, never would I think that! I love you, and it’s okay. I am here. To save you forever and always, okay? Please don’t cry." Jack caressed her red curls.

"Jack?" Rose looked up at Jack.

"Yeah?"

"I am nervous about the baby. You know, if I keep dreaming of this, I might kill it," Rose said, trying to hold back her tears.

"Just don’t think like that. Tomorrow, we’ll go see if the doctor can say anything about this, okay?"

"Thanks so much for everything…I love you."

"You, too, Rose. Now, let’s get some sleep, okay?" Jack asked, kissing her lips softly.

"All right. Good night, Jack!" Jack and Rose fell asleep into each other’s arms.

At the Doctor’s Office

Rose sat waiting for the doctor to tell her something.

"Dr. Metcalfe, please. The anticipation is killing me."

Dr. Metcalfe chuckled. "Well, Rose, this is nothing serious. Your baby seems to be dreaming, and I guess it just knows how to get to you. We really don’t have much on this. Okay?"

"Yes, doctor, and thank you!" With that, Rose was out the door and back home.

*****

Rose started to cook dinner, and was watching her daughters play dolls in an old Victorian dollhouse, which looked similar to her old house in Philadelphia.

"Daddy’s home!" Summer yelled, running to the door and hugging her father, as did Eva. That shout broke Rose’s thoughts. Jack started walking towards her.

"Hey, how was the doctor?" Jack asked, kissing Rose’s lips.

"It was fine. He said the baby was dreaming or something. He said they still don’t know much about this," Rose said. She looked very tired.

"Rose, go take a nap. You look as if you’re gonna faint." Before Rose could answer, Jack picked her up and took her to the bedroom.

On the way there, Rose yelled, "Jack Dawson, put me down! Now!" She playfully kicked her feet in the air.

"Now, Rose, rest. I will finish up here and be back to give you your food."

Rose looked into Jack’s eyes. She knew he would not take no for an answer. "Fine. You win, Jack!" Rose smiled. She and Jack kissed. Then, Jack left.

"Is Mother all right?" Eva asked, worried.

"Yes. She just couldn’t sleep last night," Jack said, going into the kitchen. He tended to the children and Rose.
