Based on some situations originated by James Cameron.
She had seen it all with her own
eyes. She had watched the enormous ship flounder. She had watched it sink lower
into the ocean. She felt the tears that had built up into her eyes begin to
fall. Jack, she thought as she gripped the skirt of her dress. She had
left him. How much of a coward was she? She wiped the back of her face with her
pale hand and then looked at her mother as they began to lower the boat.
"I can't believe you,"
she said to her mother, pure anger in her voice.
Ruth looked at her daughter,
surprise in her eyes. "Rose, what do you mean?" she asked, looking at
her with tears about to fall from her eyes.
Please, please forgive me
But I won't be home again
Maybe someday you'll look up
And barely conscious you'll say to no one
Isn't something missing?
Rose looked at her mother. Then
she looked at the side of the ship, where she saw faces of fear peering out of
the windows. She stood up in the lifeboat and jumped onto a platform. She
turned and looked at her mother as the lifeboat lowered her more and more.
"I’m sorry, Mother."
You won't cry for my absence,
I know
You forgot me long ago
Am I that unimportant?
Am I so insignificant?
Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?
Rose lifted the long skirt of her
dress up and ran towards the main doors. She felt someone grab her, and she
turned to see Cal. "Cal…let go," she said as she looked up at him,
her blue eyes focused on his brown ones.
Even though I'm the sacrifice
You won't try for me, not now
Though I'd die to know you love me
I'm all alone
Isn't someone missing me?
"You’re going back to
him!" he said angrily as he grabbed her shoulders. Rose tried to pull
herself away from Cal, but his grip was too strong. She looked up at him, and
then she tilted her head back and spit in his face. She was free. She ran as
fast as she could away from him.
Please, please forgive me
But I won't be home again
I know what you do to yourself
I breathe deep and cry out
Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?
Rose ran as fast as she could.
She was told by Mr. Andrews where to find Jack. She nodded at his directions,
then ran as fast as her legs could carry her. "Jack!" she screamed as
she moved through the halls of the Titanic, its lights flickering off and on.
"Hello?" she called, hoping for someone--anyone--to respond to her
call, but there was nothing. "Jack!" she called once more.
Even though I'm the sacrifice
You won't try for me, not now
Though I'd die to know you love me
I'm all alone
Isn't someone missing me?
She ran more, and finally she
heard him. "Rose!" he shouted.
Her eyes scanned the hallway, and
she ran until she saw him. She pushed the door open. "Jack!" she
said, and ran up to him as best as she could as the water surrounded her waist.
She put her arms around his neck
and kissed him. "I’m sorry, Jack. I’m so sorry!" she cried, kissing
him more.
"Rose…don’t worry. I knew
you wouldn’t leave me," he said, and kissed her back. "You have to
find a key. It’s a silver one. Go look in that case."
Rose moved over to the case and
began to fumble around, looking for the key. "Silver…silver. These are all
brass keys," she said, and turned to look at him.
Jack looked back and bit his
bottom lip. "Go get help, Rose," he said, looking at her.
Rose looked back at him, moved
over, and kissed him. "All right. I’ll go get help. I’ll be back,
Jack," she said, and kissed him once more before leaving.
And if I bleed, I'll bleed
Knowing you don't care
And if I sleep just to dream of you
I'll wake without you there
Isn't something missing? Isn't something...?
She ran as fast as she could, her
legs moving up the stairs. No one was there. "Help!" she screamed.
"Anyone!" she called, until a crewman came forward.
"Miss, you shouldn’t be down
here. Follow me."
She struggled against his grasp.
"No! You’re going the wrong way! There’s a man! He’s trapped down
there!" she shouted, and finally pulled away from him. "Listen!"
she screamed, and her fist impacted with his face.
"The hell with you!" he
said, and ran off.
Rose breathed softly, looked
forward, and saw an axe. She picked it up and ran back into the hallway. She
lowered herself onto the stairs and saw that the water was no longer waist
deep. It had risen quite a lot since then. She took her coat off and slowly
lowered herself into the water. "Ah!" she cried. It was freezing. Her
lips began to turn blue from the cold water. She moved as fast as she could,
and finally reached him. "Jack, will this do?" she asked, and looked
at him.
"I don’t know. I’ll guess we
will find out."
Even though I'm the sacrifice
You won't try for me, not now
Though I'd die to know you love me
I'm all alone
Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?
She looked at him and nodded.
"Wait…open your hands more, and go practice some on that cabinet,"
Jack said. She nodded lightly, and then walked over and hit the cabinet. She
tried to hit it again. "That’s okay. Enough practicing. Come on," he
said, looking at her. Rose’s lips were blue from the cold. "I want you to
swing and hit it as hard as you can, Rose. I trust you," he said, and she
quickly let the axe fall onto the cuffs.
They broke.
The End.
