MY HEART WILL GO ON
Chapter Four
When Rose awoke in the lifeboat, she saw the
words Carpathia above her. She saw people wearing black looking down at her
from the railing. When Rose got on the ship, she immediately went to an
officer.
"Excuse me, sir, I need your help,"
Rose said.
"Yes, love, what can I help you
with?" the officer replied.
"Is there a Jack Dawson on board?"
Rose asked.
"I'm sorry, love, but there isn't,"
the officer said, shaking his head.
"Oh, God, please take care of
Jack," Rose said, as she sat down on a deck chair.
"Jack, oh Jack, why were you taken away
from me by the harsh sea?" Rose asked, as she looked up at the sky. An
officer came over where she was, and started to clench her.
"Why was he taken away from me,
why?" Rose said, through tears.
"Maybe it was suppose to be this
way," the officer said. "No, it wasn't supposed to be this way. I'm
an actress; everything I want I get. And I didn't get what I wanted. So you see
officer, it wasn't suppose to be this way. Now I suggest that you go and help
those other women who can't find their husbands either, and leave me
alone," Rose said, harshly, through tears.
It wasn't long until they arrived in New
York, and Rose got off the boat, and saw Donald, her manager, standing there.
"Oh, Rose! Thank God you are safe. When
I heard about the sinking, I feared the worst," Donald said, hugging her.
Suddenly, when the word Rose was spoken, tons
of reporters swarmed around Rose and Donald.
"Hey guys, give the lady some
space," Donald said.
"Oh, do have a heart, let us just ask
one question," one of the reporters said.
"No," Rose said, and she shook her
head, looking down.
As Rose and Donald walked along the city
streets, Donald could tell that something was wrong.
"Rose, what's wrong?" Donald asked
Rose.
"Donald, I was on a ship with two
thousand, two hundred people on it. Fifteen hundred people died with that ship,
and only around seven hundred of them made it," Rose said, giving Donald
the harsh eyes.
"Rose, I understand that, yet it is
passed beyond that, though. I've known you for about three years, and you can
talk to me," Donald said, giving Rose the cold harsh stare back.
"I met the most wonderful gentleman on
that ship, and he went down with that ship. The only thing I have left of him
is this, and I'm going there. That's where I'm starting my new life, but I
would still like to do acting," Rose said, as she held up the piece of
paper.
Donald nodded, and said, "I suppose you
would like another month or two off, right?"
Rose smiled, and said, "Yes,
please." Rose tried to smile.
"All right, I'll see what I can
do," Donald said, smiling.
"Thank you," Rose said, giving him
a hug.
