A LOVE REBORN IN THE STREETS
Chapter Nine

Rose woke up early in the morning. She kissed Jack on the forehead and went to the nursery where Jenny was. She was sound asleep and completely dry. Rose had nothing to worry about here at the Brown estate. Everything was taken care of. She looked into the closet and there was a green outfit made of velvet. It was similar to the blue dress she had worn on the Titanic. She pushed it aside and began to view the other choices she had in the closet. There was a pretty pink outfit. It was perfect.

She didn't put on a corset. She hated those things to death. She would be happy if she never had to wear one of those things for the rest of her life. She slipped on the dress. It fit her perfectly. She buttoned up the buttons in the back and looked at herself in the mirror.

Jack woke up and Rose was not by his side. He got up and saw her looking at herself in the mirror. He smiled. She looked just the way she had looked on the Titanic. He remembered seeing her from the poop deck. She had been so beautiful he couldn't take his eyes off her.

"Wow. You’re beautiful," Jack said.

She turned around and blushed. "I didn't even hear you wake up. Thanks for the compliment."

"You’re welcome." He got up, put on his underwear, walked to her, and put his arms around her. "Today you leave. I promise I will come back to you," he whispered in her ear.

"You’d better. I hope Cal learned his lesson--not to mess with you ever again." Rose turned around and kissed him.

"So do I. But I don't think he will be the problem." Jack looked down.

"Oh?" Rose looked at him.

"Yeah. It's his father that I am worried about," Jack confessed.

"Why?" She looked at him with a curious expression.

"Well, he's pissed. I almost killed his son and he will want revenge," Jack told her.

"When you fight, think of us. Think of what Jenny will need from you when she gets older." Rose touched his face and caressed it.

"I will be thinking about that and more, Rose. Without you, there is nothing. I would have no reason to live." He touched her face and leaned into a kiss.

Mrs. Brown opened the door to find them in a romantic embrace. She carried Jenny with her. Jack and Rose broke apart. She had seen their display of love. She smiled at them.

Jack got behind Rose, seeing as he was only in his underwear. Rose felt him grab her waist. She took his hand and pulled him closer to her.

"Well, you two look as cute as a button. I gather you had a very good night alone?" Molly asked.

"Yes, we did, Molly." Rose took Jenny from her.

"Good to hear. Well, I must be going today. I gather you and Jenny are coming with me, Rose?" Molly asked.

"Yes, we are." Rose turned and looked at Jack, not wanting to leave.

"Okay, then." Molly shook her head and left them alone.

"Jack, I don't want to leave you here alone." Rose hugged him with the baby in her arms.

"I'll be all right. I'm a survivor. Remember that?" Jack kissed her forehead.

"I lost you once. I don't want to lose you again. Don't you understand how much I love you, Jack?" Rose sat down on the bed, wiping her tears.

"I understand, because I love you just as much." He took the baby from her and held her.

He knew what he was doing. He understood what could happen, but he couldn't let it go. No matter how hard he tried. Once Rose and Jenny were gone, he would have his problems solved. He would fight to the death to get rid of Caledon Hockley. If he were to die, he would be happy that his wife and baby were safe. But Cal wouldn't get to her, no matter what. He vowed to kill Cal if it was the last thing he ever did.
