CAL'S REVENGE
Chapter Two
Rose walked into the house, not knowing that
she was being followed. She took Jake from his stroller and took him to his
nursery.
*****
Cal turned to the driver. "Stay
here."
The driver nodded.
Cal walked up to the Dawsons' house and let
himself in. He walked into the kitchen and sat down at the table.
Rose walked into the kitchen and almost
fainted. "Cal, what are you doing in my house?"
"I followed you, sweetpea."
"Get out, or I'm calling the
police."
"No, sweetpea. I can't do that."
"I said get out!" Rose screamed.
"Why, Rose, what has gotten into
you?" Cal asked with a smirk.
"Go to hell."
"You bitch," Cal said, slapping her
across the face. "Now, get dressed. We have a wedding to go to."
"No!"
"Yes, Rose, or I will kill Jack and the
baby."
"All right. I will go. Please, just
don't harm Jack or the baby."
"If you do what I tell you, they won't
get hurt."
"Can I say good-bye to the baby?"
"Yes, but make it fast."
Rose walked into the nursery and walked over
to Jake's crib. Holding him to her, she said, "I will always love
you." With tears in her eyes, she lay him back down and started to walk
out. She decided to write a note for Jack and her mother saying that she was
with Cal, but that they shouldn't try to rescue her because she did not want
anyone to get hurt.
*****
Cal held onto Rose's arm so she would not try
to escape. As they were driving away, he turned to Rose and said, "I will
kill not only Jack and the baby, but you and your mother as well if you try
anything funny. Is that clear?"
"Yes," Rose whispered.
"Good."
Rose tried to think of an escape plan without
letting Cal know about it. She decided that the only way was to pretend to go
along.
*****
The car stopped at a fancy hotel in the best
part of the city. Cal handed the driver a roll of twenties. "Come, Rose.
My father is waiting."
"Coming, dear," Rose replied, a
fake smile on her face.
Nathan walked to the well-stocked bar in his
suite and poured himself a glass of brandy.
"Father, I am back."
"Is Rose with you?"
"Yes."
"Good. We will have a wedding
tomorrow."
Cal turned to Rose and said, "Just
think--tomorrow you and I will be married, sweetpea."
"That's great, Cal," Rose said, but
she was already hatching a plan. She hoped that Cal would not find out that the
baby he had seen in the paper was his.
