STATUE OF LIBERTY
Written by Vivian Fung
Based on some situations originated by James Cameron.
There was a lonely, heartbroken
figure coming off the Carpathia. It was the figure of Rose DeWitt Bukater. She
had chosen the love of someone she truly loved over all the miserable wealth
she could have had when she married Caledon Hockley.
The day she arrived in New York
was rainy. Rose, who still had her chiffon dress and Cal’s black coat from the
day the Titanic sank, stood out there with nothing between the rain and her.
She stood in front of the Statue of Liberty, looked up at it, and thought, Oh.
It surely is a sign of freedom. I really like the color. Green. Green was
her eye color, which Jack had liked looking at. Rose wished that Jack could
have been right there with her, holding her hand. She knew Jack was watching
from heaven, but it wasn’t the same.

She hadn't realized that an
officer was coming toward her. The officer asked, "May I have your name,
please, love?"
Rose looked at him for a moment,
then finally said, "Dawson." She looked back up at the statue as the
officer recorded it on his clipboard. "Rose Dawson." With a thank you
to Rose, he hurried off to record other survivors' names.
Rose put her hand in the coat's
pocket, felt something, and took it out. It was the Heart of the Ocean. She
made a vow to herself right there that she would not sell the necklace even in
the hardest times. She would rather work than sell the necklace. She decided to
keep it as a reminder of the Titanic, Cal, her family, her past, and most
importantly, Jack.
Who knew what would happen during
her life? But what she did when she got old was a whole different story.
Something that was so amazing, it led her back to her past.
"Rose Dawson," Rose
said.
The End.
