The OLIVE TREE - photos of Monica

Psalm 128: "May your offspring be like olive plants around your table." I put a lot of care into mine to make her grow strong in the eyes of the Lord!

Highlights of Monica's Life - Green is her favorite color!

Here she is in 1978, with me, and with her beloved uncle Billy.

If Mosie has any bad habits, you can bet she picked them up early in life! This was our dear friend Ginny who was our next-door neighbor. About a year after I took these photos, we moved in with her and her partner, Mary. They were there for us when our landlord wanted to sell our home. About another year later, Ginny died of cancer.

Monica posing at the Velvet ice-cream mill in Utica Ohio in 1981.

Could a little face be any happier? I wonder who her fave rave, her Prince Charming, was back then?
This was taken at her family birthday party in 1982.

Monica and Brigette participated in the baby contests at the Grove City festival in 1983. Monica placed in the top six finalists of her age group; only four prizes were awarded. I wonder if missing teeth had anything to do with her not taking an award? Brigette placed 3nd in her age group.

First Holy Communion--------------->

In 1985, she got a new dress for the occasion, but she wore my veil from 1958! My mom replaced the bows and washed and pressed it, so that it looked brand new!

Mosie's Transport Fleet!---------------->

Easter Sunday 2000: Monica (right) and her cousin Brigette (left). The two are affectionately known within our extended family as "Mo" and "Bo."

Monica's first car, a Toyota Corolla in May 2000.
Monica married the love of her life, Mark Hite on October 30, 2004.
In 2005 the newlyweds purchased 5 acres of wooded hillside near Lancaster, Ohio, at the height of which grows a stand of dogwood trees. I dubbed the place Dogwood Hites, word-playing with their name. They are building a house, with the help of his father and brother. Monica and her mother-in-law have even pitched in to help from time to time.
The first thing Mark had done, was carve out a driveway to the crest.

In this first of three pictures, the dogwoods are blooming. The second is a winter shot of same scene, as is the third. The third one shows how the curve of the driveway comes out of the trees into the clearing at the top.
This is the same scene in snow.
The building of the house is coming along within a few years. This is October 1, 2008.
In November, little more progress. They moved into the lower level of the unfinished house in 2008. This is another view.
Mark is installing a second floor window.
