POSTSCRIPT

Orang Asli mapWay back in the 60's, after looking at some pictures of Troides andromache and Chalcosome mollenkempi, I embarked on a journey to the then North Borneo by ship where at that time no proper inter-town road existed, nor any insect dealer or catchers. The high hopes and expectation that these insects will be everywhere for easy picking turned to great disappointment after enduring hardship, anxiety, delay and hassles with just a few common specimens to show at great expenses.

It will be the same when coming to a foreign land and know not where to go to and who to turn to for information. It is with hope that these pages will be of help to all those who intend to make a journey to our land. The tourist offices sites on the Link will provide some answers on hotels, maps and etc. The Taste of Malaysia site will let you have a glimpse of what you will be consuming, collecting grounds give you an idea of right places to go to.

The success of the trip depends greatly on a combination of collecting and purchasing. Collecting just a few common specimens should not be a disappointment. The spirit of adventure of being here, to be able to experience, smell and taste of whatever you have heard, that by itself is a great satisfaction.

UTMOST THANKS TO

Siew Li & Michael at Pos SlimMs Siew Li Yap, my niece, who spent countless hours toiling till late at night to create and design these pages. Enduring the constant editing, changes and additions. Without her dedication, enthusiasm and creativity, these pages will not be in existence. To her, my heart felt appreciation.

To the hundreds of aboriginal adults and children who for small monetary gains have contributed so much of their unacknowledged effort to our knowledge of the insect world. Without their collecting effort, the gallery will be empty.

To Mr.Cheaw Hon Ming who scanned some of the pictures.

To my new camera which never seemed to fail me at critical moments.

Together we make The Team.

A WORD OF THANKS

We hope you enjoy visiting our site. The Gallery will be updated regularly. Thanks too to those who offer comments, suggestions and constructive criticism. We hope one day you will embark on a journey of adventure to our country. Bye.
