here we are...these are the japanese expressions that i use in my fanfic... san - a term used at the end of a name...it's kind of formal...it means Miss, Ms., Mr., or Mrs. chan - another term used at the end of a name...it's kind of the same as "san", but it's only for close firends... domo (arigatu gozaimasu) - thank you...using a longer term is more polite and formal sumimasen - sorry hai - yes senpai - captain oba-san - grandma o-sama - king go-kigen yo - hello/goodbye ya - hi, but only for very close friends or relatives oka-san - mother jo-o - queen otosan - father miya (sama) - prince...without the "sama", it is only used with someone's name...(ex. Prince Edward - Edward Miya, but the prince of Egypt - miya sama Egypt no) sayonara - goodbye...this is a more polite version cobenesai - sorry. ano - "um" (literally!) watashi - " I "...(as in me, myself and i)...it's usually used with "wa" at the end...that means just that "watashi" or "I" is the subject of the sentance. caeli - (i think that this is italian) it means a few things (most of which i don't remember), including "heavenly" do shite - why...(nb: the japanese tend to say this REALLY fast so that it sounds like one two syllabal word...) ho - (no...this does not always mean whore...or slut...or hussy...) it means yes, but usually used when responding to an order (example. "go wash the toilets, seargent" "ho" [yessir])	Characters - my friend, Laura who was the first to read this said that the names were confusing...so here are some guidlines to help...it may confuse you more...names that are blue/pink have their own pages on my site...click their names to see their sites...(i'm only doing that for their first names) Kazaki - Hitomi's last name...in japan, last names go first... Millerna - the youngest of three princesses of the kingdom Asturia...wife of Dryden...used to be in love with Allen Dryden - a business-man with a lot of money who married Millerna...he will be king when the current king dies...he left on a journey to prove his worth to Millerna as a husband Eries - the middle princess of Asturia Serena - ummm...well she is Allen's long lost kidnapped sister, who was an evil man named Dilandau...you have to have seen the whole series to understand... Hitomi - the main character of the story...she was 15 at the end of The Vision of Escaflowne series...she's 17 when she visits Gaea again, and she's 22 when she moves there for good... Allen - a knight of Asturia...Serena's older brother...he's about 5 or 6 years older than Hitomi, Millerna, Van and Serena...he fell in love with Millerna's and Eries' oldest sister...who died...he fell in love with Hitomi and they ummmm...well you know...and he flirted with Millerna, but he vowed to stay with his sister from now on and protect her... Yukari - Hitomi's best friend on Earth...she is dating Amano Uchard - Yukari's last name...(see Kanzaki) Amano - the old captain of the track team...Hitomi used to like him before she went to Gaea the first time...he was going to move to England with his father, but didn't...i guess he's about 1 year older than Hitomi...he has a STRONG resemblance to Allen...(they're voices are plaed by the same man, even) Merelu - a cat-girl that grew up with Van...it is apparent that she is in love with him...she has a problem with Hitomi...but she accepts their love for each other at the end of the series... Van - (the most beautiful) he is the king of Fanelia...he's in love with Hitomi...he piloted Escaflowne...he was very jealous of Hitomi and Allen's relationship... Chid - he was the Duke of Duchy at the end of the series...At the ripe age of (what i thought was) 8.  The truth is that he is Allen's son...but his mother was forced to marry the Duke just after she got pregnant...his mother is Millerna and Eries' older sister...It's confusing...the Duke insisted that Chid was his son, but you could probably tell just by looking at him that he was Allen's son... Schezar - Allen's last name...i don't know why, but with all of the people on Gaea, their first names went first, but when THEY said Hitomi's full name, they said "Kanzaki Hitomi"...oh well...i guess they were just being polite... Shiro - (my character) the son of Hitomi and Van Megumi - (my character) she is a servant of the royal palace in Fanelia...she grew up with Merelu and Van...overly polite... Hiroki - (my character) a man that used to be friends with Van's older brother (who joined forces with zaibach...) and returned to help rebuild Fanelia...a player...appointed as one of king's advisors... Yuki - (my character) you'll probably only see her in that one chapter...she's Shiro's baby-sitter Yatamotu - (my character) a business associate of Hitomi's...you'll probably only see him in one chapter, too... Chu-ni - (my character) this is the child that Millerna is pregnant with in chapter 30.  He is a boy that likes mischief Suko - (my character) Chu-ni's sister...she's still a baby...we will have diaper fun later! Kerenai Ritoka - (my character) a fifteen-year-old prodegy of the sword...she's the first female Heavenly Knight of Asturia...she HATES her uniform, and so does everyone else! Ryokosu - (my character) sorry, you never meet him, cuz he's dead, but he was a Heavenly Knight of Asturia, and Kerenai is the one who filled his place. Young D'Artagnan - (my character?) a young, redheaded ruffian that Kerenai meets in innercity Fanelia. (hehehe) He seems evil.  Look his name up and you'll find something interesting, though. (don't look up that name if you don't want to get spoiler of my fanfiction!) you might have trouble finding the name, though.  He's not a historical character, but a well-known one.	there were some other things that i thought needed defining, mostly for those who haven't seen the series... Asturia - a large kingdom on Gaea...they are peaceful Fanelia - van's home...he is the king of this place...a small nation that was destroyed after the Great War... Duchy - another country on Gaea...it is a dukedom...so the ruler is a duke, not a king... The Great War - the name that i (kerry) have given to the war that occurs during the series... Draco-Energist - the heart of a live dragon...used to power guymelefs on gaea The Mystic Moon - the name that the gaeans have for Earth... Gaea - a planet where the earth and the moon appear in the sky...it was created by the atlantians... Zaibach empire - the evil assholes who caused the Great War Quentag - (my place) a place that used to be part of the Zaibach Empire Ciba Claw - a thing on zaibach guymelefs that is made of liquid metal...it can be used as a sword or many other interesting things...for instance, dilandau once concentrated all his liquid metal into one claw and shot it out like a cross between a bullet and a dagger...nasty little buggers... Vision - Hitomi, during the series, kept having these "visions" where she saw a snipet of the future...it made her zombie out for a couple of seconds, but usually she was fine.  She almost always fixed it so that the bad thing in the vision wouldn't come true...but a few times, she fucocked it up. Escaflowne - an Ispano (that's a tribe) guymelef...Van piloted it...special because they made a blood pact so that Van felt it's wounds...but he piloted it better as a result...Van took out it's draco-energist at the end of the series...it can switch into a flying white dragon...tres cool... Guymelef - oh my god...you don't know this?!?  well, it's this kind of weapon...you pilot it...it's usually humanoid (human-shaped), but you sit in it and you either have controls or your movements are done by the machine...tres cool...but scary... The Heavenly Knights of Asturia (a.k.a. The Knights Caeli) - 12 guys that were given the great honor of defending Asturia at all costs...Allen is one of them...Kerenai is the newest member...they are all appointed by the king because of their reliability and valor in combat...they also meet every now and then to help with matters of national security...sorry about changing terms, but i like Knights Caeli better)
		NB: in chapter 63, Kerenai says "French?  Where's French?  I've never heard of that kingdom."  note that since Young never said France before that, he only said French and Frenchman, she did not know the name of the country.  It's also supposed to be a little bit funny (so laugh, damn you!)
