Pokemon Stadium ReviewBy far, Pokemon has been the biggest driving force ever behind Nintendo. Pokemon stuff is EVERYWHERE, and its hard not to see anything Pokemon-related at retail stores across the country. Pokemon's first endeavor on the N64 had limited success. Pokemon Snap was on the Top Five Rental Charts for months before it left this week, but Pokemon Snap sold a relatively low number of copies compared to the amount of rentals. Many gamers complained of a low replay value, and the fact that only 63 Pokemon actually made it into the game. That should not be a problem for Nintendo's upcoming game Pokemon Stadium. Pokemon Stadium will feature 151 different Pokemon, that can be directly loaded from your Pokemon Blue or Red cartridges, so you won't need to retrain your fave Pokemon. To do this you'll need the upcoming Transfer Pak. With the Transfer Pak you'll be able to take information from your Game Boy Color, and load onto your N64 much like you would use a Controller Pak. The Transfer Pak is also expected to hook onto your GBC like the Game Boy Rumble Pak does. However, the Transfer Pak will probably only let you bring information from your GBC to your N64, and not vice versa. After you've uploded your Pokemon, you can battle it against other trainers, in an in-game tournament, or in a tourney against three of your friends. The battles go similarly to the GameBoy battles, although with the N64's graphical capabilities each attack will have stunning animation and effects. To expand the gameplay, mini games will also be included. However, as of yet there has been little mention of exactly what types of games will be in the game. Pokemon Stadium is slated for an early March release date. |
