Thurgood, Scarface, Brian and Kenny are four friends whose main hobby is smoking weed. Kenny goes out on a munch run and decides to feed a police horse he sees outside the convenience store. Unfortunately for him, the horse is diabetic and dies. He is branded a cop-killer and gets thrown in jail. Bail is set at $1 000 000. His friends have to save his ass (literally and figuratively) and the only way they can think of raising the money is by stealing (Thurgood is the janitor at a lab that experiments with Marijuana for medicinal purposes) and selling it. They become very successful an piss off a rival dealer as well as Thurgood’s new girlfriend, Mary Jane, who is anti-drug.
OK, so this film won’t be enjoyed by everyone. Maybe you even have to be stoned to fully appreciate it, but I laughed and laughed all the way through it which is good enough for me. It’s not quite as good as "Dazed and Confused" but it’s pretty bloody funny. The sequences that show all the different types of smokers are hilarious. To see Bob Saget ask "Have you ever sucked dick for coke?" alone is worth the price of rental. The other celebrity cameos are great too. As one reviewer said: (It’s) Only for those in the know.... I thought this movie was great - one laugh after another. It's not for the common masses - you have to have spent some time amidst the culture depicted in this film to truly appreciate it. Otherwise you will probably miss a lot of the references. So get together with some friends, stock up on some muchies, light-up and enjoy.
Friend: "Hey man, we’re out of papers"
McGuyver Smoker (Stephen): "Alright, then get me a toilet paper roll, a corkscrew and some tin foil."
Friend: "We don’t have a corkscrew"
McGuyver Smoker: "Alright, then get me an avocado, an icepick and my snorkel. Trust me bro’, I’ve made bongs with less, hurry up!"
Thurgood (Dave Chappelle): "You have smoked yourself retarded."
Thurgood: "I got some bootie! I got some bootie! It was good, too."
Thurgood: "Guess what? I got more booty! I got more booty!"
Enhancement smoker (Jon Stewart): "You ever see the back of a twenty dollar bill on weed? There are snipers in the bushes."
Cocaine addict (Bob Saget): "I sucked dick for cocaine! Have you ever sucked dick for marijuana?"
