Asking How Someone Is

To ask how someone is, ask:

Hawo bu yo? = How are you?

'Hawo' means how. 'Bu' is not the query word, therefore does not end in O. They might reply:

Xo bu sasi. = I am so-so.

'Sasi' means 'so-so'. It must end in I, and since 'sosi' means 'her', 'sasi' is used to me so-so.

Xo bu (ve) mali. = I am (very) bad.

'Mali' comes from the Spanish 'Mal' which means bad. The I was added because it is an adjective. 'Ve' is optional. It means 'very'. You may also say:

Xo tu. = Me too.

'Tu' means 'too'.
