Installing new plugins to Close Combat using Configuration Manager

Okay, we've done all of the hard stuff!!!! w000000000t! It gets much easier from here believe me.

From here on out the only time you will ever need to use your Zip utility again is installing new plugins to the Configuration Manager, and as seen before in the last step that was a piece of cake, right?  :)

Now you're ready to see just how easy it is to use Zeppo's Configuration Manager to install all of your favorite Mods and Maps to any of the Close Combat Games.

1.) Using either the desktop shortcut you created, or the start menu program group the installer created, open up Zeppo's Configuration Manager. Now sometimes after a new plugin has been installed it may take a moment for it to come up, especially if its a particularly large mod, such as Western Front, or Vietnam. This is because in the background it is unzipping all of the files in the plugin to a folder named system preparing them for use. So be patient.

When you open up the Configuration Manager you will see a screen such as this.

2.) Left click on the plugin you want to install, this will highlight it as above. Notice Ramelle is highlighted, I have left clicked on it to select it.

3.) Now right click on the file and you will see a menu like the one pictured below.

From this menu you notice the uninstall is not highlighted. That's obviously because it isn't installed  :)

All plugins in the bottom window are uninstalled, all installed plugins are in the top window.

If the plugin has a readme file, you can left click on "Readme" to view it. You can do this at any time, whether the plugin is installed or uninstalled.

You can also delete the plugin if you wish to do so, just remember that this deletes the file from your drive as well, so if you intend to keep the plugin at all, either make a back up copy first, or make sure you still have the original zip file.

4.) Now left click on "Install", the Configuration manager will do all of the rest of the work for you from here out. You just need to sit back for a second and let it work its magic. When the plugin is installed, it will move it to the upper window, and you will see the following screen.

That's It!! Easy as can be. Your plugin is now installed and you're ready to play.

Once you feel you need to uninstall it, simply reverse the process. The plugin is in the top window now, so left click on the plugin you wish to uninstall thus selecting or highlighting it, then right click it to bring up the menu, then left click on Uninstall.

**Anytime you uninstall a plugin file, it will prompt you to insert the Close Combat CD, no matter how the uninstall is written, you have to have the correct CD in the drive to uninstall.

Well that's all folks, you have now graduated with honors, and can consider yourself a plugin expert!

errrrr well, an expert on using them anyways  :)

If any of you would like to see a section on writing your own plugin files for use with Zeppo's Configuration Manager,  please email me at stutgrtguy@hotmail.com. I hope these pages have helped make this process seem a bit less intimidating, and have helped you in some way or another. Peace and Happy Hunting.
