1. Call To Order. The Regular Meeting of June 11, 2008 was called to order at 7:08 p.m. 1A. Roll Call. Present were Malcolm Taggart, Peter Heebink and Michael Vernon. Absent were Helen Smith and Perry Savoie. Approximately 3 observers. 2. Adoption Of Agenda. Motion # 1. Motion THAT the agenda is accepted as posted. Moved by Peter Heebink, Seconded by Michael Vernon. Vote: 3 in favour. Motion # 1 Carried. 3. Adoption Of Previous Meeting Minutes. Minutes of the May 14, 2008 meeting were read. Motion # 2. Motion THAT the minutes be accepted with one amendment to item 8. Moved by Peter Heebink, Seconded by Michael Vernon. Vote: 3 in favour. Motion # 2 Carried. 4. Discussion of Licence to Occupy for Shoreline Protection Application for Yuellet / Middlebrook, Lot 27, South M’Clintock. Motion # 3. Motion THAT Council reply via email by Friday that Council has no objections to the application. Moved by Michael Vernon, Seconded by Peter Heebink. Vote: 3 in favour. Motion # 3 Carried. 5. Report From the Chair & Correspondence. Correspondence: Received copies of letters of approval for Licence to Occupy for Shoreline Protection applications for Hartnell and Reid. 6. Committee Reports. AYC: nil report. ML Community Society: Simi Morrison reported the hiring process for a new manager is ongoing. Volunteers were welcome to help paint the clubroom. For Father’s Day a flea market, pot luck BBQ and 1st annual wheelbarrow race is planned. There are big Canada Day plans for the parade and beer garden. Summer fun day camp for kids and August 9th is the Southern Lakes Bike Relay race. FireSmart: nil report. ML Transfer Station: Gloria Lommerse reported that a spark from the pit set fire to a number of flats filled with discarded computer equipment. The volunteer fire department was called and the fire controlled before it spread any further. A baler has been donated to the depot by P&M Recycling. Clay will be trying it out on cardboard and plastics. An amount of cash was lost when Clay left the cash box in the depot overnight. It is recommended the society investigate solar powered security cameras. EMO Committee: nil report. 7. Old Business. Army Beach Well: Caitlin Kerwin from Community Services reported that the Army Beach well would be reassessed due to estimated additional costs of 2.5 million. Community Services would be exploring other possibilities in the same area. The 2008 Council Budget was signed and handed over to Caitlin Kerwin. 8. New Business and Question Period. No new business. 9. Adjournment. Council will have no meeting in July. Next meeting will be August 13th. Chair Taggart adjourned the meeting at 8:12 p.m. |
