The dream was the same as it was every night...
There they where, four of them. They stood
majestically a bright blinding light behind them.
But their glorious time in the light ended quickly
as they where struck dead by the darkness...
Destiny shot right up in bed. She had that dream
again, it always scared her. It always made her
feel like some part of her died every time she dreamt it.
Part one
The Bracelet...
"Destiny Aiko?" The words came from the teachers
mouth in a high squeak.
The way Mrs.Lamb talked always made the little
blonde hairs on the back of her neck stand up.
"Here..." she answered half heartedly. That dream
from last night had set her back two hours,
cutting back on her beauty rest. Which of course
she couldn't live without!
Dusty, the name by which her friends called her,
slumped down in her chair letting out a small yawn.
"Jun Ericks?"
"Here." As soon as she heard his voice she looked
over in his direction, she had a crush on this
particular boy. He was a senior, but not out of
her reach.
She was a sophomore and the most beautiful if she
did say so herself. Her mind wondered the rest of
the class, not really focusing on any one thing.
It wasn't until the bell had rung that she noticed
she had fallen asleep in class, she was surprised
that Zany hadn't woken her up. Speaking of Zany
where was she? She hadn't come to class. With that
she picked up her books and walked out into the
hall, most of her class was already out there. She
looked to her right and then her left before
proceeding down the hall to her next class. As she
waked along she caught sight of Zany and reached
out to grab her arm.
"Zany!"
"What you want me to tell your fortune? Just leave-
Oh! I'm sorry Dusty. I thought you were someone
else."
Zany put a hand to her head. She obviously wasn't
feeling well.
"Where were you? I didn't see you in first period."
Zany shrugged. "I didn't wake up early enough this
morning."
"Oh, well I wanted to tell you about this dream I had!"
Zany looked around for a second then spoke. "Well,
then talk while we walk I cant afford to be late
to my next class."
The continued their way down the hall to their
next class. They had first and second period
together everyday.
"Anyway, I wanted to tell you about this dream I had"
Zany looked at Dusty with anticipation and urged
her to go on.
"There are this five people standing against a bright light - "
"Can you see their faces?"
"No, I - "
"Me neither."
"What?" Dusty was a bit confused, did Zany have
the same dream?
"Do these people all die?"
"Yes,..."
"I had the same dream."
"Do you know what it means?" Dusty's words sounded desperate.
"Of course not. I would have figured it out by now
if it weren't for that stupid sister of mine and
her rock music late at night..." Zany began to
message the sides of her forehead.
"So you really don't know what it means?"
"No."
"Well, If I could be physic I would have gotten it
by now!" Dusty puffed out her cheeks.
Zany just shook her head. "I'm really tired"
They finally got to class and took their seats and
prepared for the lecture that was soon to come
from Mrs.Kicklighter. They had sub last time and
the only way to really put how things went into
words would have to be disaster.
Something caught Dusty's eyes on the floor. "Wow!"
she leaned over out of her seat and picked up a
bracelet that had an ID plate on it, but it had no
name on the plate. Oh well that just means she
could get away with taking it. Dusty put it on her
wrist and smiled, that was the first good thing to
really happen to her today.
School had been boring over all and nothing seemed
to go the right way. Dusty puffed out her cheeks
while she leaned against a near by wall. She was
waiting for Zany, today they where going to go to
the ice cream parlor. Dusty always loved the ice
cream sprinkles they had there, her favorite being
the star sprinkles of course! Dusty caught sight
of Jun from the corner of her eye. She started to
make an effort to confront him but was soon halted
somebody grabbed her shoulder. "Hey Aiko! I hear
that you're sure to pass with the highest GPA this
year." It was Dele.
'Oh God' She thought 'why now?'
Dele was always trying to beat Dusty at something,
it seemed like that was the only thing he lived for.
"Look I don't have time for you're stupid little
speech that you no doubt have been practicing on
your way over here. So now that this confrontation
is over I will go mingle with people more
important than YOU."
When she turned to continue her pursuit of Jun she
found that he was no where to be seen.
This made her mad.
"Oh so I see I can't wish my fellow student well.
But I guess I'm not beautiful enough for YOU!"
He turned oh his heel and stomped off, clearly
angered by what she had said.
She blinked for a second not really knowing what
to do. For some reason she felt bad maybe even
shallow. She shook her head and cleared her mind
that was about the stupidest thought she had ever
had! She was about to start searching for Jun
again when Zany finally decided to show up.
"Hey Dusty. Ready to go?"
"Yeah. I was wondering when you where going to get
here, it took you forever!"
"Well, it's not my fault that Link can't keep his
speeches short."
Link was Zany's boy friend. It was really cute if
you though about it, they had been going out since
5th grade. He was always very protective of her
though. Good thing he wasn't old enough to drive
yet or Zany would never have time away from him.
They walked along the road as they always did, it
was nice outside not a rain cloud in sight. If
there had been Dusty might have gone insane. Her
hair always started to frizz right before a rain
storm. They waited for the light instruct them
that it was okay to cross the road. As they waited
a small red convertible drove up and stopped, a
young woman leaned back in her seat turning her
head to face them. She grinned at them showing her
teeth.
"So girlies what are you up to?"
The young man next to her grabbed her face pulling
her into a rough kiss. As soon as he let her lips
go he looked to the girls and licked his own. She
pushed him off her.
"What are you doing stop flirting!"
The light changed and the car sped off as quickly
as it had appeared. They both looked at each other
a little confused.
"What do you think that was about?" Zany
questioned.
Dusty threw her chin into the air, "I couldn't
care less!"
She started across the road Zany right behind her.
"I had a strange feeling from them." Zany started.
"It was just another man checking me out."
Zany started to laugh, "Sure he was! The girl
looked more interested in you than he did!"
Dusty stuck her tongue out at Zany for her oh so
rude comment. They kept on walking down the street
till they made it to their destination. They sat
down next to each other at the bar. Dusty loved
the cute little red seats they had there. They
waited for Mr. Bynum to finish with his latest
customer. Zany looked to Dusty for a moment when a
look of interest came across her face.
"Where did you get that?" She pointed to the
bracelet on her wrist.
"Oh this?" She thrust her arm out for Zany to
see. "I found it on the floor, pretty don't you
think?"
"Yeah, maybe I should get one. It's very pretty."
"I don't think you could find one as pretty as mine.
" Dusty leaned over the bar getting one of the
many straws and then sat back in her seat. She
started to unwrap it when she noticed Jun out of
the corner of her eye, he was leaving. She started
to get up, but soon took her seat again when he
made it to his car and abruptly drove off. She
sighed that had been her second chance to talk to
him and she missed it again! Zany was preoccupied
folding a napkin into those cute little fortune
tellers. There was a crash and then a scream they
both looked in the direction of the noise to see
that Mr.Bynum was on the floor holding his arm
blood every where. Zany froze in place.
"Zany? What's wrong?"
"Don't you feel it? It's here..." The words came
from her mouth almost as if she were in a trance.
"What do you mean?"
Mr.Bynum was starting to get up people were
already on their way around the bar to help him.
He stood holding his arm as blood fell from it, he
started to laugh.
Zany jumped at Dusty pulling her and herself to
the ground.
"look out!"
Right after that was a bright flash of light and
the people around them fell to the ground. They
looked dead, They couldn't be! Dusty thought.
Mr.Bynum had jumped onto the bar and was looking
down on them. He looked different, his arm was
turning a gray color and his eyes looked as dead
as the people around them.
"Wha-What's going on!" Dusty screamed out.
Mr.Bynum looked down on them and grinned.
"Poor little princess doesn't know what to do?
Awww... I do you a favor and kill you both now!"
The blinding light returned and dusty covered her
face with her hands feeling heat. When the light
disappeared Zany was on the floor looking as dead
as everyone else. Dusty looked around her, why was
she still alive? Her bracelet was glowing slightly
and she noticed she had a crystal staff laying
across her lap. She narrowed her eyes on the man.
He had just killed all these people and most of
all he and just killed her best friend. Tears
started to fall from her face.
"How dare you!"
She stood gripping the staff in her hands.
Mr.Bynum, no, the monster continued to laugh.
"You think you can kill me with that stick?"
She held her staff to her chest as her tears fell
to the ground. The area around her and this
monster started to fade away leaving them in a
thick fog where they could only see each other.
She looked up to him her eyes enraged.
"I'll kill you if it's the last thing I do!" The
area started to glow and there was a loud
screaming sound.
"What are you doing?" The monster was trembling.
Dusty let out a scream charging at the monster,
the light around her so bright that even the most
skilled fighter couldn't make out her figure. She
ran her staff right through the monster like he
was butter. Letting out a scream the monster fell
to the ground and the fog faded away leaving them
at the ice cream stand. Dusty fell to her knees
and let her tears fall, her best friend was dead,
Mr.Bynum was dead. What was she going to do? A
hand grabbed her shoulder.
"Hey Dusty are you okay?"
It was Zany! And she was alive! Dusty wrapped her
arms around her.
"You're alive!"
Zany gave Dusty an odd look.
"Of course I'm alive!"
Dusty stood and looked around to find that
everyone was okay and Mr.Bynum was handing out ice
cream like he always did. This was very
confusing...
The girl leaned back in her seat.
"Well, it seems she's found out about her power..."
"Umm humm..." The young man next to her leaned
back in his seat not really interested.
"You know we have to find the others."
He looked to her. "You take this all way to
seriously."
She narrowed her eyes on him. "You don't take this
seriously enough! If we don't do something now the
Prophecy of Divinity will never work!"
"Yeah yeah. Lets just get out of here..." He
rolled his eyes and with that, the little red
convertible drove away from the small ice cream parlor.
