Something happened here in the early morning hours, which cannot be explained. At 01:50 Hours (Seattle; Pacific Standard Time) I spotted a star-like object moving around in the night. I got the binoculars, after I noticed that it was indeed moving, left/right and backwards/forwards (not in that order). My binoculars revealed a very distant object, that was green on top and had a red blinking light beneath. Once I started to watch it with my spy-glasses, it seemed to stop moving, and remained in that position in the sky. I watched it through the binoculars as it maintained the same relative position for approximately 20 minutes. During that twenty-minutes, I would return periodically, with the binoculars at the same focus, and would find that the object had gone out of focus, something a star wouldn't do. I went back inside, as this sighting was largely un-eventful. It had remained due south-sw at approximately 60-degrees above a virtual level horizon
After approximately 20 minutes had transpired, I heard the roar of a fighter buzz our offices. Thinking that the fighter was going to engage the UFO, I hurried back outside to see if the objects position had changed, and I noted that it had vanished from view, if not completely. By now, approximately 40 minutes had transpired since I had made the initial sighting at around 1:40 am. (I was first alerted to the fact that something had changed, when a jet fighter flew by my office, low and slow. There was at least one black helicopter around earlier that evening. One flew by UFORCE HQ at: time 2:30 am PST, ..as if to confirm that it had either:
a. chased it off, knowing its nature (a ufo).
b. went to investigate further (somewhat likely)
c. Monitoring its experimental activity (see 6, below)
There are several possible explanations for this sighting, no one any more plausible than the next, with the exception of number 6, experimental aircraft or UFO...number 5.
HERE ARE THE POSSIBLITIES THAT I AM CONSIDERING AT THIS TIME:
1. A PLANET OR A STAR. I considered this possibiity for a moment, and concluded that this object had a relative magnitude brighter than any planet I had ever seen, and certainly any star. Also, I believe that a planet nor a star could track that much expanse of sky in 20 minues...although it remains a possiblity...
2. A HELICOPTER: A helicopter was ruled out, when I discovered that it was making subtle Zig-Zag maneuvers, which a helicopter cannot do. This could be an optical affect, (see below). Irregardless, with the red and green light horizontal to each other, (red on bottom, green, top) the helicopter would have had to be absolutely vertical, which helicopters cannot do. Also, these were extremely bright lights, too bright for navigational/international pattern lights found on most aircraft.
3. CONVENTIONAL AIRCRAFT: This was also ruled out, because planes do not hover, nor do they perform a zig zag maneuvers. A plane may appear to be hovering, if its approach to your relative position is direct...but in this case, the wings would have had to be vertical, which is an impossibility.
4. OPTICAL DISTORTION: This could be an optical affect, caused by the variance in distance between the distal source and the proximal retinal stimulous, quite common when the eye adjusts to a fixed object in infinate space with unknown distal parameters; also, the movement of trees (ie; a slight breeze) could also cause this kind of subtle movement.
5. UFO: An Unidentified Flying Object; NL Class. This seemed to be the most plausible explatnation, as the object remains unexplained.
6. EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT: The FAA would be quick to point out, (as they have before) that experimental, secret aircraft does not have to register with the FAA, if owing to the classified nature of their operation. This also remains a distinct possibility.
I was left to wonder if it was ufo, if it had touched down, or was going to return? Mayber they dropped somebody off??? Maybe the military is out there... looking for it, (the MIBs; black op's) etc.
