yet arid sky
changing the corpuscules
of brick into sturdy weight
to scratch the baby thick
soles of white feet.

purple and yellow flags
fly from multitudes of
car attennas on the 405 freeway
where people live to drive
and the home team on
every television set
with mixed nuts and fresh fruit laden
on the coffee table.

you can laze the days
away here
without paying
the bills
close your eyes and try
to feel the place
you left behind

and try to feel to place
you need to move
forward to
