DAVID CONNOLLY-Current Domestic Club,West Ham United Football Club

Connolly had a brief spell with Dutch club Feyenoord, and came to Wimbledon on a Bosman free transfer in 97'. His time in Holland was strange to say the least, as he was loaned to Wolves and then another Dutch side, Excelsior (Second Division), where he scored a magnificient 48 goals in 2000.

This earned him the reward of the Division's player of the season award. In 1997 Connolly was voted FAI-Opel U23/Young Player of the Year

Although David 'will' feature in the Republic of Irelands future, his starting place in the first XI team will not be guaranteed.

What with Robbie Keane, Clinton Morrison and the inform Damien Duff, Connolly will almost certainly remain a fringe player. He did however make the final 23 man for the 2002 Wolrd Cup Finals, Korea / Japan.

David also missed a penalty in the World Cup Finals, 2002 v Spain in the penalty shoot out after extra time. Spain progressed 3-2 on penalties.
