Having won the last of his three caps in 1999 against Northern Ireland, Kavanagh only occasionally got close to a place in the squad over the last four years but an impressive start to the 03-04' season with Cardiff City which saw him named Division One Player of the Month for September, has earned him a call-up by Brian Kerr.
He will be in the squad to face Switzerland on October 11th in Basel.
