Does Breen fancy becoming a Magpie?

World Cup hero Gary Breen could join Republic of Ireland team-mates Shay Given and Andy O'Brien at Newcastle United next season. According to his agent, Sky Andrew - "There is substance to it. Newcastle's interest is quite clear". And Gary Breen would not cost the Magpies a penny, as he is available on a freee transfer. There has also been many other interests from West Ham and Southampton but still Everton remain the favourites to sign him. Before the World cup Gary Breen was also touted as a summer signing for Sporting Lisbon as a replacement for fellow Irishman Phil Babb, who has joined Sunderland.

Leed United Manager Hunt update

According to Leeds United today the board have narrowed their list down to four people for the new Managers appointment. The board met yesterday to decide on the best action as regards approaching the appointment. Although no names' have been made public yet, the Board of Leeds United will begin proceedings in 48 hours time. The list should comprise of Martin O'Neill, Mick McCarthy, John Gregory and Terry Venables.

However Celtic F.C. chief executive Ian McLeod is insisting that O'Neill has a year left to run on his contract, and in the past he has always honoured his contract. Both the FAI's Milo Corcoran and Brendan Menton are sure in their minds that Mick will honour his remaining two years as Ireland Manager. But the FAI would receive heavy compensation if Mick decides to take the job, providing he had a get out clause in his FAI contract. Terry Venables is not so keen to leave London, as he has fixed himself firmly with ITV, as a regular Football Pundit. So that just leaves Gregory...?
