Champions League

The game finished 4-0 to the Red’s. Both Andy O’Brien and Shay Given gave impressive performances for the Toon tonight in the Champions League Group E game with Italian giants Juventus. But more misery for Bobby Robson’s men, for things are going from bad to worse with three straight European defeats and now bottom of the group table, tonight loosing 0-2 at Juventus.

More Irish in the treatment room

Former Boh's player Shaun Maher is the latest Irish man to hit the treatment table across the water, and it is thought that the Bournemouth defender could be out for up to three months.

He suffered a double blow at Darlington last week when he injured both his knee bone and cartilage. The 24 year-old Dubliner, who has 2 league goals for the Cherries this season has under gone scans, and surgery will be required to trim the torn cartilage pads.

For Cherries Boss Sean O’Driscoll, it’s the worst possible news that Maher will need an operation to cure both problems. But it is thought that the bruising to his knee will be what keeps him out the longer.

Shaun Maher’s current Bournemouth and former Boh’s team-mate, Gareth O’Connor, has had an operation on a knuckle injury, and it will keep him out for two weeks.
