Rossiter injured for Sunderland / Kennedy on the Mark

Republic of Ireland U19 defender Mark Rossiter, limped out of the FA Cup third round tie with Bolton at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday after sustaining what appeared to be knee ligament damage.

Sligo native, Rossiter, could now face a lengthy spells on the sidelines after making a rare appearance for the Black Cats first team in the third round tie with Bolton, as a substitute to replace Stephen Wright. He is now the third Irish man on Sunderland’s books currently in the treatment room, with Jason McAteer and Thomas Butler recovering from hernia surgery and hamstring injuries respectively.

Capped for the Republic of Ireland at Under-14,16,17 & 19 level, Mark signed for Sunderland after playing for Galway United as a schoolboy. He can play at right back or as a central defender. He also scored the dramatic winner against Huddersfield Under-19s last season and struck four tiems for the Under-17s the season before.

Kennedy on the Mark {FA Cup Round Sunday 05/01/03}

Mark Kennedy grabbed Wolves second goal in their victory {3-2} over Newcastle United at Molineux today. It was an entertaining game to say the least, with Wolves racing into a 2-0 lead before Newcastle drew level before half-time. Wolves than got a crucial third goal in the second half that sealed the Midlands club passage through to the fourth round.

Shay Given may find that the keeper rotation system on Tyneside comes into affect again, for the Lifford born Irish shot-stopper had a dreadful time between the sticks today with comical errors, although he did pull off at least two goods saves.Paul Butler and Denis Irwin featured for Wolves as did Andy O'Brien for the visiting Magpies.
