Thornton and Tierney join Irish loanees

Republic of Ireland U19 international Sean Thornton has joined Second Division Blackpool on an initial one- month loan deal, and the Drogheda man is the second Irish Black Cat to go out on loan in the last forthignt.

Just last week, Sunderland and former Irish youth international, Michael Reddy returned for an 18-month injury lay-off, joined Div III York City at Bootham crescent. Sean Thornton was signed by former Sunderland boss 'Peter Reid' from Tranmere during the summer, with an independent tribunal finally intervening in the overall transfer fee as Thornton was to have allegedly trained with Tranmere during the Summer months of this year, without Tranmere's permission.

Thornton should line up for Blackpool this coming Saturday against Wigan at home in the League

Tierney joins Irish loanees

Republic of Ireland U21 and Manchester Utd. defender, Paul Tierney has gone on loan to Div II Crew Alexandra, the third Iirsh man to go out on loan this week across the water

Tierney, 20 years of age, failed to secure a first team place in the Man Utd. starting 11, after making only one sub. appearance this season. He is cleared to play at Crewes ground, Gresty Road, in this coming Saturdays Div. II clash with Brentford.

September this year, saw Utd. Boss Alex Ferguson declare that the answer to his defence problems were possibly under his nose, in the form of Paul Tierney.
