Is the Duffer becoming a devil?

Damien Duff, "The Duffer", call him what you like. The lad who makes the opposing defence squirm as he runs rings around them. His lighting pace, skill and temprement, and all at the ripe old age of 23.

The Ballyboden born Duff has been in the transfer speculation market over the last four months. Arsenal, Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester United to be precise, all the clubs which have been linked with him or have shown an interest.

Republic of Ireland midfielder will move to Old Trafford within a week despite Rovers boss Graeme Souness claiming he is not for sale at any price. Duffer will play in attack for the Republic of Irelands World Cup campaign and United manager Sir Alex Ferguson wants him to partner striker Ruud van Nistelrooy next season. Dont apologise for knocking Holland out now. What a lovely thought, eh?

Millwall manager Mark McGhee sent out a message to the Premiership clubs who think they are in with a shout on Millwall’s two Irish young guns – Steven Reid and Richard Sadlier. Last week, failure to advance in the English First Division play-offs has left Millwall with the job of fending off approaches for his two young stars. McGhee said:

”They can look all they like. We’re in good shape both financially and as a squad, and the boys are not going anywhere”.
