Magpies still in with Euro-vision?

Although moving up to fourth in the premier league, Newcastles bid for a Champions League place was dealt a severe blow at St. James last night. Dyer slotted past Van der Sar after Speed's header over the top on 20 minutes, only for an unfortunate equaliser from Lois SAHA in the 77th minute past Given.

Fulham deserved the point at St. James to keep their survival in top level football. And if it hadnt been for Shay scooping the ball off Saha's foot on 24mins, it would have finished 1-2 to the visitors

During the second half, O'Brien (pictured above) cleared Fulhams corner, but Davis' returning volley hit SAHA and went in on 75 minutes

However on 89mins Andy O'Brien was replaced by Dabizas, after what looked like a collision with a defender and Shay Given. Steve Finnan was his usual commanding stong self on the right on defence for the Cottagers. Hopefully O'Brien will shake off what looks like an ankle injury, as the Republic play the U.S.A. in a friendly at Landsdowne on 17/04/02'.
