Givens hands Wes starting roll

Don Givens has named his Under 21 team to face their Scotland counterparts Tuesday evening with Shelbourne’s Wes Hoolahan starting as does former Waterford United man Gary Dempsey.

“I am very pleased for Gary”, said Givens, “I recommended him to Jim Calderwood and they are very pleased with him up here.”

JJ Melligan and Sean Thornton are named as subs but Givens said: “ I hope to give JJ and Sean a go from half time, Sean is a great bonus. I saw him on loan at Blackpool and he has loads of potential.”

“ We have to be careful, we had players like that before who haven’t lived up to that potential.”
