Freeman to leave Forest

Nottingham Forest are to release former Republic of Ireland U21 striker David Freeman, after being sidelined with a knee injury for more than a year at the City ground.

Freeman now 22 years of age, has spent three years at Forest, and although only featuring in nine first team appearances, he has featured regularly for their reserve squad. In light of his release Forest Manager Paul Hart has vowed to help the Dubliner find a new club. His contract expired in June of this year, but he was made an offer of a short term deal to enable him to recapture his fitness levels. He is committed to Forest until the end of September this year, by which time Hart hopes to have his secure with a new club.

Hart told the Nottingham Forest website: “David is a smashing Lad who has been very unlucky with injuries. He’s now fully fit and looking to secure a move to a new club and we will do everything we can to help him get fixed up”.
