Sunderland AFC U21 narrowly beat the U21 Bhoy’s tonight by a goal to nothing in the U21 Jersey Football Tournament. A Michael Proctor strike in the first half gave the Black Cats their first win in the Channel Islands, just before the half time mark.
Seven Irish Black Cats travelled to the tournament which is currently in its fourth year, and it was Republic of Ireland U21, Clifford Byrne who nearly made it 2 for the Black Cats, with a superb volley just hitting the underside of the bar.
But as ever, the Bhoy’s would not go down with out a fight and in the end a draw would have been the deserved result. Celtic came back into it and had the Black Cats “purring” toward the end”!
