Irish Abroad FA Cup 3rd Replay Wed 15/01/03

A Brave Cardiff city went out of the FA Cup third round this evening (Wed 15/01) at Highfield Road against Coventry City (replay}, although the score line {3-0} did not reflect the visitors efforts overall.

Liverpool’s on loan Dublin winger, Richie Partridge’ {pictured above}, featured for Gary McAllister’s Sky Blues, while both Willie Boland and Graham Kavanagh were on the loosing Cardiff City side.

Former Home-Farm & Irish international, Kavanagh, took care of all of the set pieces and was unlucky not to score with 15 minutes remaining, from just outside the 18-yard box. Meanwhile, Ennis native and former Coventry City midfielder, Willie Boland, ran his socks off from box to box.

But it was not to be for the Blues of Cardiff, as the Sky Blues sealed their passage into the 4th round with goals from Lee Fowler, Dean Holdsworth & Jay Boothroyd. Coventry will now play Div 3 Rochdale, who knocked another First Division side - Preston - out of the competition in the Third Round.
