Sads ready and waiting

Richard Sadlier or "Sads" as he was nick-named by Mick, is back in training with his club Div. I Millwall, after surgery. The Republic of Ireland international striker didnt make the final 23 man squad to the World Cup Finals due to a niggling hip injury which eventually required the necessary surgery. Sads played a part in Millwalls play-off fight to advance to top flight football in the Premiership. But it was not to be on this occasion as Birmingham city scored in the final minute ending all of the Lions dreams in Season 01-02'. Although Millwall looked the better half certainly in the second 45, there was nothing that the Republic of Irelands' Stephen Reid , Richard Sadlier (Sads) and Robbie Ryan could do. When the final whistle went the Millwall players went to their knees, in physical, and emotional pain.

Sads is potentially Niall Quinns long term replacement, with so many characteristics shared with the retired Republic of Ireland Record Goalscorer. Sads stands at a staggering 6 foot 2", and his ability to control a ball under pressure is that of on par with Quinny. And despite injury last season he managed no more than 17 goals for Millwall. He will be doing everything possible to establish himself in the line-up for the Republic of Ireland National Team as the Euro 2004 qualifiers approach
