Irish abroad, Saturday 17/08/02 Fixtures

Robbie Keane scored today in the first day of the 2002-03' Premiership season. The Tallaght Tiger came on as a substitute for Mark Viduka, and netted Leeds' third in their 3-0 win over Premiership new boys Manchester City at Elland Road.

Nationwide Football Leagues

In Div I : Denis Irwin scored for Wolves in the Foxes 3-0 win over 10-men Burnley. Republic of Ireland U21 international John Thompson netted for Notts. Forest in their 4-0 win at home with Sheffield Wednesday as the visitors.

In Div II : Former Republic of Ireland International Graham Kavanagh was on target for Cardiff City today, but it was visitors Northampton who took the three points with a 1-2 victory. Two Irish men were on target today for Wycombe in their 3-3 draw with Mansfield, Sean Devine and Paul McCarthy .

And in Div III : Although Roddy Collin's Carlisle United won by a single goal today away to Lincoln, it was also a day which saw three Irishmen sent off. Republic of Ireland U21 Internationals Richie Foran , Brian Shelly and Trevor Molly saw Collin's Cumbrian Blues finish with 8 men. Molloy was on the score sheet with a penalty on the 66th minute
