Duffers turn - Hold the back page!

Duffer the Wizard

Damien Duff is the next Irishman who may fill the press for all of the right reasons within the next 48 hours. For the Ballyboden born Republic of Ireland striker and Blackburn Rovers winger is in demand with Premier Giants Manchester United and Liverpool. The young "wizards'" price tag has gone up to an estimated GBP£20mil. and the Merseysider's seem to be the club who will win his signature. Although Souness does not want to sell Duffer, surely the revenue gained will be possibly more tempting than the Blackburn boards decision to keep the Dubliner at Ewood.

Spurs Boys

Gary Doherty and Steve Carr are both ready and willing to serve for club and country. It was simply a shame that both players were ruled out of Mick’s 23-man squad, due to injuries. Donegal born Doherty broke his leg in Spurs Worthing cup game v Torquay in September 2001, and Dublin born Carr missed "all" of last season with a niggling knee injury.

Although Doherty came on as a Sub in Spurs last three games at the end of season 01-02', and also as a Sub in the Republic of Irelands 2-1 win over the U.S.A., it was simply the lack of first team football which denied him his ticket to Japan/Korea 02'. Gary scored the winner too in the U.S.A. game at Lansdowne that wet and windy evening in April this year. Gary can play at centre back and in a striker roll for the Republic. Carr on the other hand will have to impress even more than before to root out Steve Finnan at the right-back position. Either way its just great news for Mick, The Republic of Ireland National Soccer Team and the fans

Clinton to remain an Eagle

Clinton Morrison will not be joining the Premiership this coming season 02-03'. Well not with Birmingham City anyway, as the reported GBP£5mil. deal hs fallen through. Blues boss highly rates Morrison, and he was just what the new Premiership boys Birmingham City were looking for in a natural goalscorer. But Blues director Karren Brady advised the media that talks between the two clubs had actually broken down.
