In Division I on Wednesday Irish international Matt Holland scored from a free kick to celebrate his 300th appearance in an Ipswich Town shirt against Wolves.

The Bury born Irish man took Ipswich into the lead at half time by a goal with his 45th minute strike {2-1 ht} at Portman Road against our Irish Wolves contingent – Mark Kennedy, Denis Irwin & Paul Butler.

But Wolves shot back with three more second half goals taking Dave Jones Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Div I play-off positions {6th}. The game finished 2-4 in Wolves favour.

Things are so tight between 3rd and 10th place in the nationwide Div I table – either Wolves or Ipswich could have moved into a play off position. Joe Royle will now surely be eyeing a play-off place for Ipswich, which will hopefully take the Tractor boys back to the Premiership after a one-years absence since their relegation last season.

One game in the Premiership this evening, saw Steve Finnan’s Fulham beat West Brom {3-0} at Loftus Road.

Motherwell beat Dunfermline 2-1 {the new home of former Hoops striker Noel Hunt} this evening in the SPL. Irish U21 International Gary Dempsey played 51 minutes for the Pars, while Hunt made a late second half substitute appearance with ten minutes remaining.

John O’Shea made an unexpected substitute appearance for Man Utd at Old Trafford this evening against Juventus in the Champions League Group D, for the injured Silvestre on 52 minutes. The game livened up when O'Shea came on on the left side of defence.

Keane skippered the side on the night for their 2-1 victory over the Italians.
