And Reidy tries to persuade Quinny to have another think

Peter Reid is now on Niall Quinns case to think hard about his decisions with regards to his domestic career at Sunderland. Quinny received his benefit game on May 14th this year, when the Republic of Ireland went to Sunderlands stadium of light and beat Sunderland 0-3. And this looked like he was officially bowing out of not only the international scene for Ireland, but domestically for Sunderland.

But Reid still feels that Quinny has a bit more left in him, and he has asked our Irish Hero to think again. Quinny made the decision's in respect of his age and the fact that his injuries are not improving, the most dominant being that of a permanent back problem.

Quinny has enjoyed a very long career not only with Sunderland but with Arsenal and Manchester City. Quinn played no more than 173 games for the Black Cats netting 63 goals in all domestic competitions. And of course we all know that he holds the record as the all time top goal scorer for the Republic of Ireland, with 21 goals.

Surely if Quinn does not decide to stay at Wearside there will be a coaching role for him at some stage in the not too distant future. What with his experience, overall maturity and ability to change a football game Sunderland must surely be planning something. Quinn again caught the eyes of the world in his superb performances as substitute against the Germans and the Spanish. And theres certainly more left in for Sunderland, as they have to yet make a signing for a striker.
