Sadlier and Reid woes continue

Four months after surgery, Millwall and Republic of Ireland striker Richard Sadlier could be sidelined for longer than originally thought. According to medical staff at Millwall he suffered an adverse reaction, and after further consultations with specialists is faced with the prospect of at least another eight weeks on the sidelines.

More bad news for the Republic of Ireland and Millwall, is that of Stephen Reid's injury. The midfielder damaged his ankle in training prior to Millwalls opener against Rotheram, a game that saw the ailing Lions loose by a staggering 6-0. After suffering a setback last Friday, he could well be out for longer than originally thought.

Blackburn Rovers reserves kick-off their Premiership reserve season across the Pennines with Leeds United this evening. Former Irish International Keeper Alan Kelly will be featuring along with midfielder Alan Mahon , and Monaghan born Jonathan Douglas . And in Div III, former European Republic of Ireland U18 Championship winner Liam George will line up for Bury reserves against Preston North End. George signed a short-term 3-month contract at the beginning of August, and has since featured twice for the senior Bury side, both times as a Sub.

In todays sweltering heat, Don Givens boys beat the Finns by a single goal, courtesy of Stockport County's Jonathan Daly. Manchester Uniteds Paul Tierney was equally competent, with coming forward and taking caare of his defensive duties. As a left hand sided defender his fast track to the senior may come sooner rather than later. Roll on the senior sid tomorrow.
