Injury worries mount up for Mick

Mark Kennedy is close to heartbreak. The Wolves and Republic of Ireland winger who has worked hard to rehabilitate himself after the Harcourt Street incident could be out for the rest of the season.Kennedy limped off during Wolves tussle with Grimsby and club medics suggested that he had a problem with his groin.

Now, a scan has revealed a tear in the groin muscle which will either require surgery or a lengthy period of rest without any football at all. That would kill Kennedy’s World Cup dream but open the way for one of Mick McCarthy’s young hopefuls to make a late bid for Japan. Most immediately, Kennedy and Roy Keane have been ruled out and McCarthy has chosen not to call in anyone for the moment."I have 23 players and don’t really need to make any additions – we’ll have another look at it on Monday,” said McCarthy. Sads, of Millwall may also be ruled out too with a hip injury.
