Kinsella joins Aston Villa

Republic of Ireland midfielder Mark Kinsella has completed his move to Aston Villa in a transfer deal worth stg.£275,000.00. Personal terms were agreed upon although they are unknown at the moment, however Kinsella has today signed a two-year deal with the midlands side. Kinsella moves from Charlton, where he had been since 1996, to become Graham Taylor's fourth signing of the summer.

Mark had this to say:

"The manager and the chairman both have great ambitions. I know one or two players have left during the summer but that happens at every club, and I'm delighted to fill one of the gaps. I'm looking forward to the future with Villa. It's a massive club and I want to help to bring success here".

Mark may make his debut for the Villians tomorrow against Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Mark will now join up with Steve Stan , the all time capped former Republic of Ireland international defender

O'Sheas chance "again" and Tierney on the bench

John O'Shea is again at the heart of the Man Utd. defence, as Sir Alexs Ferguson's men take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. As Rio Ferdinand is racing to reach match fitness, after suffering a pre season ankle sprain during Man Utds 2-0 win over Boca Juniors at Old Trafford, the Waterford born Defender has his chance to shine again. It is a game that Mick McCarthy will surely be watching, although defensively the Republic of Ireland should be ok for the forthcoming Euro 2004 campaign.

There is still time for O'Shea and domestic first team Football is the catalyst, according to McCarthy for International opportunity. However as Wednesdays introductions to the senior squad shone out with great displays from Butler, Goodwin and Barrett, Mick McCarthy possibly has more options than he originally thought he had on the drawing board.

Republic of Ireland U21 Striker Paul Tierney has a place on the bench tonight for the big game, and of course Captain Keane in the centre of everything.
