Keegan delighted at Dunne's progress

Kevin Keegan is delighted with the progress Richard Dunne, as the Republic of Ireland defender is currently on a strict training schedule to regain his fitness.

Dunne will not be considered for City’s clash with Liverpool on Saturday and it could be three weeks before Richard Dunne returns to the City squad for the home clash with Chelsea. The Dubliner, who turned twenty-three last Saturday, has been handed a final chance after a serious breach of club discipline.

The defender has been following a strict training regime at the club's Carrington complex with morning and afternoon sessions in a bid to reduce his weight and fast track him back to peak fitness.

Kevin Keegan revealed: "Richard doesn't figure playing wise at the moment and he knows that. He is still a week or two away from that but he has done great".

"His training is good, his weight is down - though it has to come down some more. He will be back but I don't think it will be until after the next international weekend. He has some more fitness training to do."
