Morrison a Birmingham City Blue this Tuesday

Both Clinton Morrison and Blues Boss, Steve Bruce are relieved men today as on Tuesday 31st July, our Republic of Ireland striker will become a Premiership player with newly promoted Birmingham City. Bruce has been trying to land Morrison since he himself left Palaces Selhurst Park, before taking over at Birmingham.

However the transfer was not a clean cut process, as Birmingham striker, Andrew Johnson was part of the deal by which he will now go to Palace. But over the past week Johnson was unable to agree personal terms with Palace, and now those issues have now been addressed. Clinton has agreed to join the Blues on a four year contract thought to be in the region of GBP£4.25mil.

Keane off again

Although it is probably in the back of everyones mind as to whether Roy Keane will play for the Republic of Ireland again, one can not help but think what affect his return would have on our Boys. Yes, he got a marvellous reception at Tolka last week when Manchester United played Shelbourne. And he would most likely get a rapturous reception at Lansdowne Road too. But the damage is done, and it is entirely up to the Manager who he selects for Internationals, depending on the players performance both on and off the field.

Roy has now gone to a couple of papers stating that he would "LOVE" to play in a green shirt again, but only if Mick McCarthy is "NOT" the man in charge. Its more than likely over for Keane at International level, because he had his chance for a reconciliation with the Irish staff, but he failed to take it. And to be honest Menton and Quigley are hardly going to loose the expertise of McCarthy because one man wants to play again. No player is bigger than the team. Look at our success in the World Cup? Nuff said
