Breeno a Hammer / Connolly Injury Worries

Republic of Ireland World Cup star Gary Breen has finally chosen to join West Ham on a Bosman transfer, after many links with other premiership clubs, and as far away as Italy. Breen will now join up with Glenn Roeder at Upton Park, with whom he had a brief spell with already when he was at Gillingham.

Gary rejected another offer from Everton, whereby David Moyes could not afford Gary’s wages, and Series A side Parma A.C. were keen on the London born Irish man also. Breen will join the Hammers on a one-year deal with a view to an option o f another year. It is however likely that he will remain with the London side for the foreseeable future though. Breen has been capped 47 times by the Republic of Ireland scoring 6 goals in his 8-year international career.

Gary also chose to stay in England to better his chances at international level, as it has been stated by one of Breen’s close associates that Mick McCarthy wants the Republic of Ireland Defender, Breen, to be his Captain of the Future. Gary will join up with two Irish men at Upton, Shaun Byrne (Republic of Ireland U21) & Daryl McMahon (Republic of Ireland U19)
