Cunningham to reject Sunderland Offer?

It is been reported that Republic of Ireland and Wimbledon defender Kenny Cunningham, may reject the offer put to him by Sunderland. Cunningham caught Peter Reids eye after his outstanding world cup displays, and the Black Cats boss has since being making enquires with the Dublin man. Wimbledon did confirm that talks had taken place, but a deal was meant to be finalised this weekend. The original reported price was that of GBP£800,000, but it is thought that the Black Cats would have to pay at least GBP£2mil to the cash strapped Div I club. Whether personal terms could not be agreed with Cunningham, or that he has decided to stay at the Den to push for the race for promotion to the Premier League next season, it is not really clear at this moment in time.

Mick McCarthy still in Ridsdales' plans?

After three days of speculation on who will replace O'Leary at Leeds, the list of potential managers is being bounced around the Media. Celtics' Martin O'Neill, ITV's Terry Venables, and our very own Mick McCarthy. FAI president, Milo Corcoran is confident Mick will honour his remaining teo year contract to take out boys to Euro 2004. It is not known if Mick ensured that there was a get out clause in his new deal with the FAI. And only time will tell if he decides to take over the Elland Road job. Former Leeds Boss George Graham said that it could be a "close call" between O'Neill and Republic of Ireland manager McCarthy, and suggests McCarthy would be keen to return to the more lucrative arena of club management.

Finnan about to get ready for Europe

Although Steve Finnan is not officially returning to training with Fulham until July 6th, he has not had much of a rest what with his World Cup heroics for Ireland. The Second round of the Intertoto cup was finalised today, and Fulham will travel to Finland on Sunday 14th July 2002 to face FC HAKA (Finland). Steve has been given an additional two weeks of, while the rest of the squad have already began full training.
