In the Premiership today (SAT) Birmingham City defender Jeff Kenna scored his first ever goal for the club today at St Andrews against Tottenham in a game (1-1) that saw the Republic of Irelands Kenny Cunningham and Robbie Keane come head to head on the opposite side.

Kenna has been playing with an Achilles injury, and will now take a well-deserved rest with the return of injured players to the Blues squad.

In DIV I – Gillingham played hosts to Stoke City today at the Priestfield stadium, and former Republic of Ireland U21 international, Clive Clarke, was on target for the visitors. Irish International David Connolly scored his ‘11th’ goal of the season today for Wimbledon against Sheffield Wed (3-0).

In Div II – Port Vale beat Mansfield today (4-2) at Vale Park, and Dubliner and former Republic of Ireland U21 international, Michael Cummins, scored twice for the home side in three minutes. Dundalk native, Colin Larkin, featured for the visiting Stags.

In DIV III – On loan Sunderland and former Republic of Ireland U21 international striker, Michael Reddy, netted for York against Roddy Collins Carlisle – Carlisle have now lost two games in a row, as today’s game finished in York’s favour (2-1). Irish men Richie Foran, Brian Shelly, Peter Murphy and Brendan McGill featured for Collins side, while Willie McDonagh is still on a ban.

Former Republic of Ireland youth international, Liam George, scored his first competitive goal for Bury at Gigg Lane against Exeter City. The game was a stalemate until the 82nd minute when the Luton born Irish man scored for Andy Preece’s side, who now move up to ‘5th’ from ‘8th’, giving the Manchester minnows a great chance of making the play off places this season after going down from Div II last season – Carlisle slip to 21st. George is currently on Bury’s books on short-term contract basis

And in the Conference league, Chester City’s former Irish international Daryl Clare - fresh from last week’s hat trick against Margate – was today sent off today on the 45 minute mark. Chester played the entire second half with 10 men.
