Duff dropped by Souness...Other match round up's

Relegation hopefuls Leicester City gave Graham Souness and his team a run for their money yesterday by winning by 2-1. NO Mahon, NO DUFF!.Graham dropped Damien Dufffrom the Squad to face Leicester. Nobody knows wether the Irish winger’s absence was due to injury or his manager’s hurt pride in retaliation to Mick McCarthy's method of playing him for the full 90 minutes, the other night v Denmark. Duff has gone on record saying that if Blackburn go down 01-02 Season, he will walk. Mahon has been out of favour for some time now.

This comes after Souness had a series of high profile clashes with Irish players on his staff. We've all said it, McAteer, Carsley, Kenna Gone to better things. Now Alan Kelly cant get a game in Nets, nor Mahon on the wing. Can Damien Duff escape before its too late???

Yesterday in the Football Leagues......

Southampton 1 - 1 Fulham...Two Irishmen played crucial roles in the draw at St. Marys. Steve Finnan set up Legwinski who gave the ball to Marlet who then stroked it home for the Fulham boys. And Rory Delap took down Jason Dodds superb ball with his right foot and left footed it past Van der Sarr for the Saints.

Leeds 3 - Man Utd. 4...Major contributions as regards the Irish in this game. Robbie Keane was fouled, Ian Harte struck the free kick on 62 mins leaving Bartez with no chance. Robbie Keane on the other hand set up a blistering run on the right hand side before crossing in for Viduka to miss-hit,only for the ball to rebound onto Bowyets head and land in the right hand corner of the net for the Whites.Roy Keane again commanded a brilliant performance for the Reds

Arsenal 3 - 0 Sunderland...Sunderland again three points away from the drop-zone. Cameroons Patrick Mboma came off after 20 minutes with an injured knee, and was replaced by Quinny. Plenty of chances created by, and for Niall, however the Blackcats did not take them up. Kevin Kilbane came on during the second half.McAteer had to be substituted at half time as ref. Paul Durkin showed him the yellow for his reaction to Wiltords challenge. Peter Reid reacted by not letting the midfielder out at the second half, assuming that Wiltords gripe would succomb Jason to a possible red. McAteer off, Butler on!Reid decided to play Republic of Ireland U21 international, Thomas Butler and did he cause problems for the Gunners. Mainly on the left flank, the Arsenal defence was caught out a few times and deliveries to Quinn from Butler were good. I wouldnt be at all surprised if Butler gets first team to the end of this season.

Mark Kinsella did play for Charlton in their 2-0 defeat away to Liverpool, nice one Mark, good to see you back. However Smicer and Owen showed Kiely no grace in goal as these were the scorers for the Kop

Clinton morrison pulled one back for the Eagles but they failed to capitalise and were beaten by 2-1 by Norwich.

Sads came on for the 82 minute for the Lions 3-0 defeat of Stockport County. Good luck with the Hip Rich.
